Multilevel Latent Class with CUB Models

open access: yesJournal of Classification
Abstract We propose a latent class model for ordinal data with CUB (combination of discrete uniform and shifted binomial) distributions in the case of multilevel structures of the data. The CUB model is a powerful approach to the analysis of ordinal data, where the elicitation process is thought to be governed by a feeling parameter ...

Field Report from Collaborative Research Center 1625: Heterogeneous Research Data Management Using Ontology Representations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A unified research data management framework for heterogeneous materials data is presented. The system integrates multimodal datasets using ontologies and knowledge graphs, enabling interoperability and FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable) data principles. By linking data across scales and workflows, it supports reproducible, Artifitial

Latent variable mixture models to test for differential item functioning: a population-based analysis

open access: yesHealth and Quality of Life Outcomes, 2017
Background Comparisons of population health status using self-report measures such as the SF-36 rest on the assumption that the measured items have a common interpretation across sub-groups.

Integrating latent variables in discrete choice models – How higher-order values and attitudes determine consumer choice [PDF]

open access: yes
Integrated choice and latent variable (ICLV) models represent a promising new class of models which merge classic choice models with the structural equation approach (SEM) for latent variables.

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

Economic Valuation of Geosystem Services in Agricultural Products: A Small-Sample Pilot Study on Rotella Apple and Moscatello Wine

open access: yesLand
Soils are critical natural resources, yet their abiotic contributions to ecosystem services remain largely unexplored in valuation studies. This pilot study represents, to the best of our knowledge, the first attempt to assess the perceived value of ...

Reassessing the Link between Voter Heterogeneity and Political Accountability: A Latent Class Regression Model of Economic Voting

open access: yes, 2009
While recent research has underscored the conditioning effect of individual characteristics on economic voting behavior, most empirical studies have failed to explicitly incorporate observed heterogeneity into statistical analyses linking citizens ...

Recycling of NiTi Shape Memory Alloys: Fundamental and Technological Aspects of a Vacuum Induction Melting Processing Route

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.

Nonparametric Identification of Multivariate Mixtures [PDF]

open access: yes
This article analyzes the identifiability of k-variate, M-component finite mixture models in which each component distribution has independent marginals, including models in latent class analysis.
