Variation Characteristics of Surface Fluxes on Different Underlying Surfaces and Their Relationship with Precipitation in the Canyon Area of Southeast Tibet

open access: yesGaoyuan qixiang, 2022
In this study, variation characteristics of surface fluxes were analyzed by using the eddy covariance observations from four stations of Pailong, Danka, Kabu, and Motuo in the southeastern gorge area of Tibet from November 2018 to October 2019.Pailong ...

Surface latent heat flux as an earthquake precursor [PDF]

open access: yesNatural Hazards and Earth System Sciences, 2003
Abstract. The analysis of surface latent heat flux (SLHF) from the epicentral regions of five recent earthquakes that occurred in close proximity to the oceans has been found to show anomalous behavior. The maximum increase of SLHF is found 2–7 days prior to the main earthquake event. This increase is likely due to an ocean-land-atmosphere interaction.

Air-Sea Heat Flux Variability in the Southeast Indian Ocean and Its Relation With Ningaloo Niño

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2019
Previous studies suggest that both air-sea heat flux anomalies and heat advection caused by an anomalous Leeuwin Current play an important role in modulating the sea surface temperature (SST) variability associated with the Ningaloo Niño.

A benchmark dataset of diurnal- and seasonal-scale radiation, heat, and CO2 fluxes in a typical East Asian monsoon region [PDF]

open access: yesEarth System Science Data, 2022
A benchmark dataset of radiation, heat, and CO2 fluxes is crucial to land–atmosphere interaction research. Due to rapid urbanization and the development of agriculture, the land–atmosphere interaction processes over the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) of China,

The estimation of latent heat flux: A reflection for the future [PDF]

open access: yesTethys, Journal of Weather and Climate of the Western Mediterranean, 2007
Currently, the cost of measuring turbulent fluxes is extremely high. Thus, the development of models and theories that use robust and low-cost equipment to estimate turbulent fluxes is becoming an increasingly interesting line of research.

Estimation of surface energy fluxes under complex terrain of Mt. Qomolangma over the Tibetan Plateau [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2013
Surface solar radiation is an important parameter in surface energy balance models and in estimation of evapotranspiration. This study developed a DEM based radiation model to estimate instantaneous clear sky solar radiation for surface energy balance ...

A Simulation Study of Global Evapotranspiration Components Using the Community Land Model

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2018
The Qian atmospheric forcing dataset is used to drive the Community Land Model, version 4.0 and 4.5 (CLM4 and CLM4.5) in off-line simulation tests. Based on flux network (FLUXNET) data and reanalysis data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric ...

Evaluation of Satellite-Derived Latent Heat Fluxes

open access: yesJournal of Climate, 1997
Abstract A method of determining ocean–atmosphere latent heat flux using the Special Sensor Microwave/Imager (SSM/I) and the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) is presented and evaluated. While sea surface temperatures are retrieved from AVHRR data with an accuracy of 0.5–1.0 K, the near-surface wind speed and the surface air humidity are

On the interaction between marine boundary layer cellular cloudiness and surface heat fluxes [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2014
The interaction between marine boundary layer cellular cloudiness and surface fluxes of sensible and latent heat is investigated. The investigation focuses on the non-precipitating closed-cell state and the precipitating open-cell state at low ...
