Latent heat storage in concrete [PDF]

open access: yesSolar Energy Materials, 1989
Abstract Sensible heat storage in building materials has been practiced for thousands of years. Recent work at the Centre for Building Studies in the impregnation of concrete with various phase change materials (PCM's) has resulted in the addition of latent heat values which can increase its total thermal storage capacity in the range of 100%–130 ...

Numerical Study on Transient Heat Characteristics of a Rectangular Latent Heat Storage Vessel [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Transient characteristics of the rectangular latent heat storage vessel packed with shape-stabilized phase change (solid-liquid) material (PCM) are investigated numerically by solving the governing equations of both the PCM and the heat transfer medium ...

Latent heat storage

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, 1981
The investigations of materials presumably suitable as storage media for latent heat indicate that water, some salt hydrates and eutectic mixtures of water and salt hydrates possess extreme heats of fusion. Their melting points, ranging from about -50° to + 130°C, fit well for storing low grade heat in residential energy systems.

A new method to identify the optimal temperature of latent-heat thermal-energy storage systems for power generation from waste heat [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The integration of thermal-energy storage (TES) within waste-heat recovery power generation systems has the potential to improve energy-efficiency in many industrial processes with variable and/or intermittent waste-heat streams.

Economic Efficiency of Mobile Latent Heat Storages [PDF]

open access: yesEnergy Procedia, 2014
AbstractIn a pilot project an optimized mobile latent heat storage based on a system available on the market has been tested at Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety and Energy Technology. Initially trials were conducted with the aim of optimizing the process of charging and discharging.

A solar air collector with integrated latent heat thermal storage

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2012
Simulations of the behaviour of a solar air collector with integrated latent heat thermal storage were performed. The model of the collector was created with the use of coupling between TRNSYS 17 and MATLAB.
