A physics-informed latent-state framework for net-load disaggregation and scenario generation in large-scale multi-level distribution networks

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
Routine hosting-capacity assessments in provincial distribution networks require utilities to infer unobservable behind-the-meter distributed photovoltaic (DPV) capacity from net-load measurements.

Liquid‐Crystal‐Based Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface for 7 GHz Mobile Communication

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
The glass‐based liquid‐crystal reconfigurable intelligent surface (LC‐RIS) integrates active‐matrix driving and blind‐greedy phase optimization within a 5G‐NR OFDM framework. This enables continuously tunable and autonomous enhancement of wireless coverage. Leveraging the transparency and manufacturability of liquid crystal panels, it is ideally suited

Modelling latent and actual entrepreneurship [PDF]

open access: yes
The determinants of latent (i.e., desired) and actual entrepreneurship are analysed in two ways with nearly 8,000 observations from the 2004 “Flash Eurobarometer survey on Entrepreneurship” covering the 25 European Union member states and the United ...

Toward Perception‐Native Electronic Skin: Bio‐Inspired In‐/Near‐Sensor and Neuromorphic Computing for Humanoid Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Dense tactile streams from across the humanoid body converge on collide in a central wiring and data bottleneck. By relocating computation closer to and then into the skin itself, near‐ and in‐sensor architectures, together with neuromorphic computing, chart a path toward perception‐native electronic skin, in which the conversion of stimulus into ...

Bush Tracks: Exploring Rural Teaching Transitions

open access: yes, 2006
Rural teaching is a phenomenon often characterised by transitions: transitions from urban or regional universities to rural communities, between rural teaching posts and others, and from classroom teaching to leadership responsibilities.

Integrating Multi-Source Data to Model Consumer Confidence: A 3D-SDIM Application in Urban Contexts

open access: yesSAGE Open
Traditional consumer confidence indices (CCIs) rely primarily on low-frequency surveys, limiting their timeliness and resilience during periods of rapid change.

Assessing health lifestyles in contemporary China: Patterns, transitions, and socioeconomic antecedents

open access: yesGlobal Public Health
Health lifestyles in China reflect complex interplays of various structural forces, yielding intricate and evolving patterns. Leveraging data from the 2004–2015 China Health and Nutrition Survey (N = 9,986), this study discerns latent health lifestyles ...

Improving the Robustness of Visual Teach‐and‐Repeat Navigation Using Drift Error Correction and Event‐Based Vision for Low‐Light Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Visual teach‐and‐repeat (VTR) navigation allows robots to learn and follow routes without building a full metric map. We show that navigation accuracy for VTR can be improved by integrating a topological map with error‐drift correction based on stereo vision.
