Anatomical variants of the lateral femoral circumflex artery: an angiographic study

Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy, 2005
The descending branch of the lateral femoral circumflex artery (LFCA) has found recent use as a new arterial graft for coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Anatomical variants of the LFCA were assessed on femoral arteriograms obtained before CABG in 131 adult patients.

The ascending branch of the lateral circumflex femoral artery

Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy, 1989
The ascending branch of lateral circumflex femoral a. was studied in 66 adult limbs in terms of its anatomical description and clinical relevance. The anatomical findings suggest that the ascending branch could be used as an ideal supply for vascularized iliac transplantation.

Clinical significance of understanding lateral and medial circumflex femoral artery origin variability

Anatomical Science International, 2018
The common femoral artery (CFA) divides into the superficial femoral artery (SFA) and deep femoral artery (DFA). The lateral circumflex femoral artery (LCFA) and medial circumflex femoral artery (MCFA) are most often branches of the DFA, although a large number of different variations in their origin has been described.

Pseudo-aneurysm of the Lateral Circumflex Femoral Artery

European Journal of Trauma, 2006
We describe an unusual case of pseudo-aneurysm of the lateral circumflex femoral artery following fixation of an undisplaced intracapsular neck of femur fracture. We highlight the need for a high index of suspicion and the value of angiography as the investigation of choice.

Is the oblique branch of the lateral circumflex femoral artery a common variant?

Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery, 2023
The oblique branch of the lateral circumflex femoral artery, a short branch of the deep femoral artery, is highly prevalent (32-46%) and is usually considered a normal variant, although this is still controversial. This study aimed to evaluate whether the oblique branch of the lateral circumflex femoral artery is a variant.

The Femoral Nerve and Its Relationship to the Lateral Circumflex Femoral Artery

Anesthesia & Analgesia, 2006
Small branches of the femoral artery in the femoral triangle are not palpable and could increase the risk of intravascular injection during femoral nerve (FN) block. I evaluated the position of the lateral circumflex femoral artery (LCFA), a lateral branch of the femoral artery, in relationship to accepted landmarks for FN blockade, including the ...

Distal anastomosis patterns of the descending branch of the lateral circumflex femoral artery

Journal of Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgery, 2016
The reverse anterolateral thigh (ALT) flap has shown good results in the treatment of patients who have skin and soft tissue defects around the knee and shin. The objective of this study was to show the anastomotic patterns of the descending branch of lateral femoral circumflex artery (db-LCFA) and locate the appropriate pivot point for reverse ALT ...

Morphology of the lateral circumflex femoral artery in adult cadavers

Anatomical Science International
The lateral circumflex femoral artery (LCFA) is important for surgical approaches to the hip joint; its branches are often used as grafts and pedicled flaps. Our aim was to contribute to the literature by reporting variations. The LCFA branching pattern was studied in 26 lower limbs of formalin-fixed cadavers.

Aneurysm of Lateral Circumflex Femoral Artery in Association with Multiple Atherosclerotic Aneurysms

Annals of Vascular Surgery, 1992
Femoral aneurysms are uncommon and are frequently associated with other aneurysms, particularly those of the aorta and popliteal arteries. Other peripheral aneurysms are even more rare. As far as we are aware, only one aneurysm of the lateral circumflex artery has been previously described.

Breast Reconstruction Using the Lateral Femoral Circumflex Artery Perforator Flap

Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery, 2011
The development of microsurgical breast reconstruction has resulted in not only the lower abdomen as a source of donor site tissue but also interest in alternative donor sites. These have included perforator-based flaps at the sites of previously described myocutaneous flaps (e.g., superior or inferior gluteal arteries) and the use of myocutaneous ...
