An Approximate Theory of Lateral Impact on Beams
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1955Abstract The approximate theory derived in this paper describes, by means of a “traveling-wave” approach, the behavior of beams under transverse impact. Lateral impact is considered in detail, namely, one in which a section of the beam undergoes a sudden change in velocity or shear force.

Lateral Impact Effect on Circular RC Columns
2023Reinforced concrete (rc) columns are the vertical carrier members in the structural system. Generally, rc columns are divided into two parts due to their section geometry and confinement reinforcement. Columns are designed by considering the dead, live and horizontal wind and seismic loads.

Structural improvements for the lateral pole impact
ATZ worldwide, 2007Next to the frontal crash the side impact belongs to the most common collision types. Due to the limited deformation space it shows a high endangerment for the vehicle passengers. Within the scope of a research project funded by the Research Association for Steel Application (Forschungsvereinigung Stahlanwendung e.
