Investigation of lateral load resistance of laterally loaded pile in sandy soil [PDF]
Investigation of the lateral load resistance of pile is made by laboratory model test on singleand group piles. The experiments are carried out with varying size, spacing of piles in group and length to diameterratio (L/d) of the piles. Lateral resistance of pile is a function of shape, size, spacing and length to diameterratio (L/d) of the pile.

Laterally loaded pile behavior
International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences & Geomechanics Abstracts, 1982An analysis of laterally loaded piles is presented in which the pile is treated as an elastic beam supported on non-linear, shear coupled, horizontal springs. The edge forces which act along the pile length are also taken into account and prove to be of significant importance to the pile behaviour. The characteristics of the axial springs and the shear

Laterally Loaded Piles With Bulge
Journal of Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering, 2007This paper contains several investigations on the behavior of bulged piles. Bulge means the application of vertical steel plates somewhere near the ground surface to improve the lateral bearing capacity. The results of small scale tests in sand are illustrated, which demonstrate the effectiveness of such bulge.

Laterally Loaded Timber Columns
Journal of the Structural Division, 1979A general theoretical expression for the load-carrying capacity of timber beams, taking into account lateral instability, and columns, has been developed under the assumption that the conditions are elastic until failure but that the structures have initial curvature and torsion.

Laterally Loaded Piles: Program Documentation
Journal of the Geotechnical Engineering Division, 1977The documentation is presented for the computer program COM622, which solves for the deflection and bending moment of a pile under lateral loading as a function of depth. The calculations are performed on a finite difference model of the pile, and the soil is represented by a series of nonlinear curves of force per unit length versus deflection.

Load transfer approach for laterally loaded piles
International Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, 2001AbstractA two‐parameter model has been proposed previously for predicting the response of laterally loaded single piles in homogenous soil. A disadvantage of the model is that at high Poisson's ratio, unreliable results may be obtained. In this paper, a new load transfer approach is developed to simulate the response of laterally loaded single piles ...

Effect of Raker Piles in Lateral Load Capacity of Laterally Loaded Pile Group
Soil Behavior and Geomechanics, 2014Lateral load tests were performed on a raker pile group to determine the lateral load capacity. The behaviour of a pile group subjected to lateral load was studied through laboratory experiments with aluminum pipe pile with outer diameter of 25.4 mm and thickness of 1 mm. In this experimental study, clean river sand was used as a soil medium.
