Research on the response of concrete cavity shear wall under lateral load
The Structural design of tall and special buildings, 2018The experimental tests were conducted on the common concrete shear wall and the concrete cavity shear walls. Results indicate that the stiffness and ultimate capacity of the cavity shear walls are reduced and the ductility is improved; reasonable ...

Lateral load behaviour of a rectangular precast shear wall involving vertical bolted connections
Advances in Structural Engineering, 2018This article is concerned about precast reinforced concrete shear walls and the methods of assembling shear wall panels to form a reliable load transfer system.

Laterally Loaded Piles: Program Documentation
Journal of the Geotechnical Engineering Division, 1977The documentation is presented for the computer program COM622, which solves for the deflection and bending moment of a pile under lateral loading as a function of depth. The calculations are performed on a finite difference model of the pile, and the soil is represented by a series of nonlinear curves of force per unit length versus deflection.

Load transfer approach for laterally loaded piles
International Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, 2001AbstractA two‐parameter model has been proposed previously for predicting the response of laterally loaded single piles in homogenous soil. A disadvantage of the model is that at high Poisson's ratio, unreliable results may be obtained. In this paper, a new load transfer approach is developed to simulate the response of laterally loaded single piles ...

Effect of Raker Piles in Lateral Load Capacity of Laterally Loaded Pile Group
Soil Behavior and Geomechanics, 2014Lateral load tests were performed on a raker pile group to determine the lateral load capacity. The behaviour of a pile group subjected to lateral load was studied through laboratory experiments with aluminum pipe pile with outer diameter of 25.4 mm and thickness of 1 mm. In this experimental study, clean river sand was used as a soil medium.

Although foundation piles usually have as their main purpose to carry axial loads, they may also be subject to lateral loads. This is especially the case for offshore platforms, which may be loaded by large lateral forces due to wind and water waves. The response of a pile to a lateral load is studied in this chapter.

Modeling laterally loaded piles
Pollack Periodica, 2013Single row pile groups are gaining popularity as foundation system for both buildings and bridges. They are a reasonable and economical solutions for structures with low vertical loads e.g. bridge abutments. The lateral resistance of a pile group is the result of contact pressure between the individual pile shafts and the soil. When designing this kind

Winkler load-transfer analysis for laterally loaded piles
Canadian Geotechnical Journal, 2016The Winkler modulus for a vertical beam buried in elastic soil is reassessed for the problem of a horizontal loaded pile in the framework of linear elasticity. By matching the integral solution in elastic continuum and the expression with the elastic Winkler modulus, the subgrade modulus of an infinitely long pile embedded into elastic space is ...

A beam-bar finite element formulation of a laterally loaded pile problem is developed. The approach taken utilizes the beam on elastic foundation coefficient of subgrade reaction method. The three loading conditions of a lateral load or applied moment on a free-end pile and a lateral load applied to a fixed-end pile are analyzed for a range of soil ...
