Analysis of Laterally Loaded Gridworks
Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1964It is shown that the deflection of a uniform rectangular gridwork loaded at its nodes is governed by a sixth order partial difference equation that requires three boundary conditions at each edge for its complete solution. Solutions are indicated for various types of boundary conditions.

Ultimate lateral load resistance of laterally loaded pile
2009Several methods are available for predicting ultimate lateral load resistance of laterally loaded pile. These methods often produce significantly different ultimate lateral resistance. This makes it difficult to select an appropriate method in designing/predicting ultimate lateral resistance of pile.

Lateral Load Issues for Buildings
2013Buildings are complex physical systems. Structural Engineers deal with this complexity by creating idealized structural models that define the key structural components, the overall makeup of the building structure, and the loadings that it needs to withstand.

Investigation of lateral load resistance of laterally loaded pile in sandy soil
2003Investigation of the lateral load resistance of pile is made by laboratory model test on singleand group piles. The experiments are carried out with varying size, spacing of piles in group and length to diameterratio (L/d) of the piles. Lateral resistance of pile is a function of shape, size, spacing and length to diameterratio (L/d) of the pile.

Lateral Loads on Power Boilers
Journal of the Energy Division, 1979The structural section of power-boiler specifications should include lateral-force design criteria to minimize the possibility for critical damage and resulting financial loss during a furnace explosion. Boilers designed for 20% g have survived violent explosions with moderate structural damage.

Laterally Loaded Unreinforced Walls
1981It is possible to distinguish two categories of wall in relation to lateral strength: firstly, wall panels, the resistance of which depend primarily on the flexural strength of brickwork and, secondly, those whose resistance depends on the action of in-plane forces« The first category of walls are those found in low-rise buildings and in the upper ...
