Direct Anterior Approach in Lateral Decubitus Position Versus Supine Position for Unilateral Total Hip Arthroplasty: A Comparative Study

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, 2021
Objective To compare the clinical efficacy of the direct anterior approach in lateral decubitus position (L‐DAA) and supine position (S‐DAA) for unilateral total hip arthroplasty.

Radiographic optimization of the lateral position of the knee joint aided by CT images and the maximum intensity projection technique

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research, 2021
Background Standard lateral knee-joint X-ray images are crucial for the accurate diagnosis and treatment of many knee-joint-related conditions. However, it is difficult to obtain standard lateral knee-joint X-ray images in the current knee-joint lateral ...

The influence of road marking visibility on lateral vehicle position and driving speed

open access: yesActa Polytechnica CTU Proceedings
Road markings are a vital element of horizontal signalling, forming an integral part of traffic signalling. Their role in traffic safety involves providing timely warnings, safe guidance, and necessary information to ensure the safe movement of all road

Over the head and lateral position technique for cardiopulmonary resuscitation: which one is better?

open access: yesMedisains, 2020
Background: A high rate of cardiac arrest requires high-quality CPR. A valuable CPR rescuer has lower success than two or more rescuers, especially with the use of BVM.

Comparison of cardiopulmonary resuscitation quality performed by a single rescue with a bag-valve mask device: Over-the-head or lateral position?

open access: yesClinical Epidemiology and Global Health, 2023
Introduction: The highest quality and effectiveness of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) will be difficult to achieve if ventilatory assistance is provided using a Bag-Valve Mask (BVM) device and combined with compression by a single rescue. This study

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Proximal femoral nailing for unstable trochanteric fractures: lateral decubitus position or traction table? A case-control study of 96 patients

open access: yesSICOT-J
Purpose: This study aimed to compare the treatment of unstable intertrochanteric femoral fractures with short proximal femoral nailing in elderly patients in the lateral decubitus position versus the supine position on traction tables. Methods: From June
