Alkaloids Isolated from the Lateral Root of <em>Aconitum carmichaelii</em>

open access: yesMolecules, 2012
Two new alkaloids, aconicarmine (<strong>1</strong>) and aconicaramide (<strong>5</strong>), were isolated from the EtOH extract of the lateral roots of <em>Aconitum carmichaelii</em>, together with five known ...

Root developmental responses to heterogeneous water and nitrogen supply [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Better understanding of the interaction between the soil physical properties determining water and nitrate availability and the root proliferation and gene expression components of nutrient acquisition could contribute to food security, but may have been

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Auxin Distribution in Lateral Root Primordium Development Affects the Size and Lateral Root Diameter of Rice

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Lateral roots (LRs) occupy a large part of the root system and play a central role in plant water and nutrient uptake. Monocot plants, such as rice, produce two types of LRs: the S-type (short and thin) and the L-type (long, thick, and capable of further branching).

Entomopathogen Metarhizium anisopliae promotes the early development of peanut root

open access: yesPlant Protection Science, 2017
The benefit of the entomopathogen Metarhizium anisopliae to early root development was evaluated. Two inoculating methods, conidia-suspension-drenching (T1) and conidia-coating (T2), were used when sowing peanut.

Identification and Characterization of the Growth-Regulating Factors-Interacting Factors in Cotton

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2022
Growth-regulating factors-interacting factors (GIFs) are a type of transcription co-activators in plants, playing crucial roles in plants’ growth, development, and stress adaptation.

PARK(ing) time–How park deficiency affects the biological clock in a Drosophila model of Parkinson's disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells

MDR-like ABC transporter AtPGP4 is involved in auxin-mediated lateral root and root hair development

open access: yes, 2005
Previous data have suggested an involvement of MDR/PGP-like ABC transporters in transport of the plant hormone auxin and, recently, AtPGP1 has been demonstrated to catalyze the primary active export of auxin. Here we show that related isoform AtPGP4 is ...

The development of lucerne root morphology traits under high initial stand density within a seven year period

open access: yesPlant, Soil and Environment, 2011
The root system of plants is generally regarded as a factor, which is in relation to important agronomic and ecological characteristics. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of high initial stand density on the reduction in development of ...
