Rotation capacity of I‐shaped beams collapsed with lateral‐torsional buckling under reversed axial forces

open access: yesJapan Architectural Review, 2019
I‐shaped beams installed in a braced structure are subjected to reversed axial forces during earthquakes. Previously, we have derived the evaluation index and formulae for beams that collapsed with dominant local buckling.

Application of the Rayleigh quotient method in the analysis of stability of straight elastic bars [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Civil Engineering
The paper deals with stability problems of straight elastic bars made of a homogenous isotropic material. The approach concerns both the bars of compact cross-sections and of thin-walled cross-sections, the transverse distortions being neglected.

Resistance and stability of steel channel section beams

open access: yesBudownictwo i Architektura, 2013
Analysis of the resistance and stability of steel beam of channel section loaded in the plane parallel to beam web, which does not pass through shear center, is presented in the paper.

Zginanie i Wyboczenie Ram Przestrzennych Złożonych z Prętów o Zmiennych Sztywnościach Zginania i Skręcania

open access: yesEngineering Transactions, 1965
Bar structures of variable flexural and torsional rigidities find wide application in various structures. For this reason the obtainment of equations enabling easy computation of such structures is essential for engineering: The problem of bending and ...

Lateral Torsional Buckling of Steel Beams under Transverse Impact Loading

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2018
This study employs experiments and numerical simulation to analyze the dynamic response of steel beams under huge-mass impact. Results show that lateral torsional buckling (LTB) occurs for a narrow rectangular cross-section steel beam under transverse ...

A mathematica code for evaluating lateral-torsional buckling of tapered cantilevers [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Lateral-torsional buckling (LTB) is the primary failure mode where slender cantilevers experience nonuniform twisting and buckling about their weak axes.
