Laterally loaded pile behavior

International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences & Geomechanics Abstracts, 1982
An analysis of laterally loaded piles is presented in which the pile is treated as an elastic beam supported on non-linear, shear coupled, horizontal springs. The edge forces which act along the pile length are also taken into account and prove to be of significant importance to the pile behaviour. The characteristics of the axial springs and the shear

Effect of Raker Piles in Lateral Load Capacity of Laterally Loaded Pile Group

Soil Behavior and Geomechanics, 2014
Lateral load tests were performed on a raker pile group to determine the lateral load capacity. The behaviour of a pile group subjected to lateral load was studied through laboratory experiments with aluminum pipe pile with outer diameter of 25.4 mm and thickness of 1 mm. In this experimental study, clean river sand was used as a soil medium.

Probabilistic analysis of the behaviour of laterally loaded piles in chloride environments

Ocean Engineering, 2020
A model for the stiffness degradation coefficient of laterally loaded piles in chloride environments is established. The spatial variability of the modulus of elasticity of soil is obtained by the centre point method.

Laterally Loaded Piles: Program Documentation

Journal of the Geotechnical Engineering Division, 1977
The documentation is presented for the computer program COM622, which solves for the deflection and bending moment of a pile under lateral loading as a function of depth. The calculations are performed on a finite difference model of the pile, and the soil is represented by a series of nonlinear curves of force per unit length versus deflection.

A bounding-surface based cyclic ‘p-y+M-θ’ model for unified description of laterally loaded piles with different failure modes in clay

Canadian geotechnical journal (Print)
The increasing turbine sizes have necessitated monopiles in soft clay to have larger diameter and rigidity, from early design of flexible piles to recent semi-rigid piles, with future anticipating rigid piles.

Behaviour of laterally loaded pile

2018
Monopiles have been by far the most common support structure for offshore turbines. They have always been an appropriate solution for complex site conditions. Design of monopiles is usually based on the use of nonlinear p-y curve. These curves are primordially based on the use of simple constitutive models for soil, such as Tresca criterion. Since soil

Effect of Rock-Socketing on Laterally Loaded Piles Installed in the Proximity of Sloping Ground

, 2021

Load transfer approach for laterally loaded piles

International Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, 2001
AbstractA two‐parameter model has been proposed previously for predicting the response of laterally loaded single piles in homogenous soil. A disadvantage of the model is that at high Poisson's ratio, unreliable results may be obtained. In this paper, a new load transfer approach is developed to simulate the response of laterally loaded single piles ...

Effects of sliding and debonding of the pile-soil interface on the soil reaction to laterally loaded piles

, 2021
An analytical model is proposed to analyze the effects of sliding and debonding of the interface between the pile and the surrounding soil on the soil reaction under a lateral load.
