Archetype models upscale understanding of natural pest control response to land‐use change

open access: yesEcological Applications, Volume 32, Issue 8, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Control of crop pests by shifting host plant availability and natural enemy activity at landscape scales has great potential to enhance the sustainability of agriculture. However, mainstreaming natural pest control requires improved understanding of how its benefits can be realized across a variety of agroecological contexts. Empirical studies

Quantization‐Based Latin Hypercube Sampling for Dependent Inputs With an Application to Sensitivity Analysis of Environmental Models

open access: yesApplied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Numerical models are essential for comprehending intricate physical phenomena in different domains. To handle their complexity, sensitivity analysis, particularly screening is crucial for identifying influential input parameters. Kernel‐based methods, such as the Hilbert‐Schmidt Independence Criterion (HSIC), are valuable for analyzing ...

Dark Energy From the Gravitational Wave Background With Scalar Field Dark Matter

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Recent observational results, such as those from pulsar timing arrays (PTA), suggest a low‐frequency Gravitational Wave Background (GWB) permeates our universe. This opens the possibility that gravitational waves could span a broader spectrum, potentially impacting cosmological scales.

Sexual videos in Internet: a test of 11 hypotheses about intimate practices and gender interactions in Latin America [PDF]

open access: yesCuadernos de Investigaci\'on UNED (ISSN: 1659-4266) Vol. 5(2), Diciembre, 2013, 2015
There is a marked lack of literature on user-submitted sexual videos from Latin America. To start filling that gap, we present a formal statistical testing of several hypotheses about the characteristics of 214 videos from Nereliatube.com posted from the inauguration of the site until December 2010.
