RAMS: Residual‐Based Adversarial‐Gradient Moving Sample Method for Scientific Machine Learning in Solving Partial Differential Equations

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
We propose a residual‐based adversarial‐gradient moving sample (RAMS) method for scientific machine learning that treats samples as trainable variables and updates them to maximize the physics residual, thereby effectively concentrating samples in inadequately learned regions.

The Influence of the Stand Composition on the Cycle Time of the Harvester

open access: yesЛесной журнал
A brief analysis of studies on logging equipment has allowed us to conclude that it is necessary to further study the degree of influence of silvicultural and taxation indicators of the stand, containing quantitative data on the trees harvested and ...

Alternating Sign Matrices and Hypermatrices, and a Generalization of Latin Square

open access: yes, 2017
An alternating sign matrix, or ASM, is a $(0, \pm 1)$-matrix where the nonzero entries in each row and column alternate in sign. We generalize this notion to hypermatrices: an $n\times n\times n$ hypermatrix $A=[a_{ijk}]$ is an {\em alternating sign ...

A call to arms: time to do cognitive science in Latin America

open access: yesInternational Journal of Psychological Research, 2008
Previous theoretical reviews about the development of Psychology in Latin America suggest that Latin American psychology has a promising future. This paper empirically checks whether that status remains justified.

Redistributive land reforms, agricultural productivity, and structural change: New cross‐national evidence

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract Large‐scale land reforms constitute a substantial redistribution of wealth and reallocation of agricultural land, which is a major form of asset and production input in developing countries. While land redistribution (from the rich to the poor) remains a highly controversial issue, extensive evidence on its effect is limited.

Limits of Latin squares

open access: yesDiscrete Analysis, 2023
Limits of Latin squares, Discrete Analysis 2023:8, 66 pp. There has been a great deal of work over the last fifteen to twenty years on the theme of continuous limits of discrete combinatorial objects. In particular, any sequence of graphs of increasing

Fabrication of low optical losses Al2O3 layer used for Er3+-doped integrated optical amplifiers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Al2O3 is commonly used as host material for Er3+-doped integrated optical amplifiers. In this paper, a Graeco-Latin square is used in DC reactive magnetron sputtering deposition experiment in order to get low optical losses Al2O3 layer.
