Selection of meadow fescue for persistence under frequent defoliation
Meadow fescue was adapted to management intensive grazing in humid temperate regions. It does not tolerate highly intensive grazing with short rest periods or residual sward heights below 5 cm. This paper documents genetic progress in selecting for improved tolerance to frequent and close grazing.
