Chemical and mineralogical characteristics of tropical soils on the transport of Na+, K+, Ca2+, and Mg2+ from the application of treated wastewater

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Quality, Volume 54, Issue 6, Page 1930-1943, November/December 2025.
Abstract With the search for water security, the reuse of water in irrigation becomes interesting and inevitable. Given the complexity of soil–solute interactions, the use of simplified artificial solutions represents an innovative approach, as it facilitates understanding these interactions while posing no risk to human health or the environment ...

A pedo‐isotopic approach to study sandy soils of the Brazilian Cerrado in Piauí State

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 8, Issue 3, September 2025.
Abstract Sandy soils dominate Brazil's Cerrado biome in Piauí State, yet their organic carbon (OC) stabilization mechanisms and landscape‐driven pedogenesis remain poorly understood. To clarify this topic, the present study proposes a pedo‐isotopic approach to characterize six representative Brazilian Cerrado soils derived from sedimentary rocks in ...

Archaeal Community Changes Associated with Cultivation of Amazon Forest Soil with Oil Palm

open access: yesArchaea, Volume 2016, Issue 1, 2016., 2016
This study compared soil archaeal communities of the Amazon forest with that of an adjacent area under oil palm cultivation by 16S ribosomal RNA gene pyrosequencing. Species richness and diversity were greater in native forest soil than in the oil palm‐cultivated area, and 130 OTUs (13.7%) were shared between these areas. Among the classified sequences,

Gênese de latossolos e cambissolos desenvolvidos de rochas pelíticas do grupo Bambuí - Minas Gerais Genesis of latosols and cambisols developed from pelitic rocks of the Bambui group, Minas Gerais state - Brazil

Fertility and acidity status of latossolos (oxisols) under pasture in the Brazilian Cerrado

The Cerrado region, with over 50 million hectares of cultivated pasture, provides 55% of Brazilian beef production. Previous investigations have shown that about 70-80% of this pasture is affected by some kind of degradation, leading to low productivity.

open access: yesActa Amazonica, 1981

Integrated triple cropping enhances soybean productivity

open access: yesCrop Science, Volume 65, Issue 5, September/October 2025.
Abstract Using soil cover residues from previous crops through integrated systems has proven effective in driving changes in soil properties with nutrient cycling, promoting higher grain production. However, there is still a need to investigate the changes that different cultivation arrangements of these management systems can influence on soybean ...

Deep Soil Water Reservoirs Modulate Land Use and Drought Effects on the Water Budget of Amazon Headwaters

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 61, Issue 9, September 2025.
Abstract The southeastern Amazon has been transformed by widespread land use and climate changes, altering the hydrologic cycle. In this seasonally dry tropical forest, the soil water reservoir plays a strong role in mediating the water balance by buffering forests during dry seasons and moderate droughts, as well as modulating runoff to streams.
