Lattices for the lattice Boltzmann method
Physical Review E, 2009A recently introduced theory of higher-order lattice Boltzmann models [Chikatamarla and Karlin, Phys. Rev. Lett. 97, 190601 (2006)] is elaborated in detail. A general theory of the construction of lattice Boltzmann models as an approximation to the Boltzmann equation is presented.

The lattice Boltzmann method for nearly incompressible flows
Journal of Computational Physics, 2020This review summarizes the rigorous mathematical theory behind the lattice Boltzmann equation (LBE). Relevant properties of the Boltzmann equation and a derivation of the LBE from the Boltzmann equation are presented.

Exact Lattice Boltzmann Equation
Physical Review Letters, 2013The lattice Boltzmann equation is derived from the Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook kinetic equation using the Euler-Maclaurin integration formula. Unlike previous attempts to connect the lattice Boltzmann method with the kinetic theory, the result is free of any relaxation-type approximation.

In this paper, the lattice Boltzmann equation is directly derived from the Boltzmann equation. It is shown that the lattice Boltzmann equation is a special discretized form of the Boltzmann equation. Various approximations for the discretization of the Boltzmann equation in both time and phase space are discussed in detail.

Theory of the lattice Boltzmann equation: Lattice Boltzmann model for axisymmetric flows
Physical Review E, 2009A lattice Boltzmann equation (LBE) for axisymmetric flows is proposed. The model has some distinct features that distinguish it from existing axisymmetric LBE models. First, it is derived from the Boltzmann equation so that it has a solid physics base and is easy for generalization; second, the model can describe the axial, radial, and azimuthal ...

The Lattice-Boltzmann Method on Optimal Sampling Lattices
IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, 2009In this paper, we extend the single relaxation time Lattice-Boltzmann Method (LBM) to the 3D body-centered cubic (BCC) lattice. We show that the D3bQ15 lattice defined by a 15 neighborhood connectivity of the BCC lattice is not only capable of more accurately discretizing the velocity space of the continuous Boltzmann equation as compared to the D3Q15 ...
