Application of lattice Boltzmann method to solution of viscous incompressible fluid dynamics problems

open access: yesНаучно-технический вестник информационных технологий, механики и оптики
The possibilities of simulation of viscous incompressible fluid flows with lattice Boltzmann method are considered. Unlike the traditional discretization approach based on the use of Navier–Stokes equations, the lattice Boltzmann method uses a mesoscopic

SIMULATION OF TURBULENT FLOW OVER A BACKWARD FACING STEP USING LATTICE BOLTZMANN METHOD [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Engineering Science and Technology, 2013
The lattice Boltzmann scheme for solving the equations governing the flow of fluids has become increasingly popular in recent years. In this method, a probability distribution function for the velocity of fluid elements is computed at each grid point ...

Emergent Spin Supersolids in Frustrated Quantum Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights developments in the study of spin super‐solids in frustrated quantum materials. Advanced experimental characterizations and computational studies enable a comprehensive understanding of the driving mechanisms of spin super‐solidity in various layered transition‐metal compounds, bridging materials, experiments, and theory aspects.

Covariant kinetic theory and transport coefficients for Gribov plasma

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2020
Gribov quantization is a method to improve the infrared dynamics of Yang-Mills theory. We study the thermodynamics and transport properties of a plasma consisting of gluons whose propagator is improved by the Gribov prescription.

A Reduced-Storage Implementation of the Lattice Boltzmann Equation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Simulation programs using the Lattice Boltzmann Equation are limited in the range of problems they can address by memory requirements. We describe an implementation scheme that reduces memory usage by up to 78%. The performance of both the simple and the memory-reduced implementation are compared.

Tailoring Phonon‐Driven Responses in α‐MoO3 through Isotopic Enrichment

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The implementation of polaritonic materials into nanoscale devices requires selective tuning of parameters to realize desired spectral or thermal responses. One robust material, α‐MoO3, an orthorhombic crystal boasting three distinct phonon dispersions, provides three polaritonic dispersions of hyperbolic phonon polaritons (HPhPs) across the ...

A New Relaxation Time Model for Lattice Boltzmann Simulation of Nano Couette Flows in Wide Range of Flow Regimes

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2019
The standard LBM with the relaxation time is only able to simulate the flow features in continuum and slip regimes. In the present paper, a new relaxation time formulation considering the rarefaction effect on the viscosity for the lattice Boltzmann ...

Transient Laser‐Shocked Synthesis of Amorphous Layer‐Supported Metal Nanocrystals for Efficient Nitrate Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A general, versatile laser‐shock synthesis process is reported to produce various bimetallic CuNi, CuFe, CuCo, and medium‐entropy CuFeCoNi heterostructures, in which crystalline metal nanoparticles are anchored to amorphous hydroxide supports. During nitrate reduction reaction, the heterostructures undergo dynamic amorphous/crystalline reconstruction ...
