Duality in matrix lattice Boltzmann models [PDF]
The notion of duality between the hydrodynamic and kinetic (ghost) variables of lattice kinetic formulations of the Boltzmann equation is introduced. It is suggested that this notion can serve as a guideline in the design of matrix versions of the lattice Boltzmann equation in a physically transparent and computationally efficient way.

Metasurfaces and other structured photonic environments can dramatically modify the absorption and/or light emission of semiconductors. However, the consequences of these changes on the temperature of the system are not well understood. The authors address this problem for colloidal nanocrystals and leverage their findings to convert light into ...

Implementation of the Lattice Boltzmann Method on Heterogeneous Hardware and Platforms using OpenCL
The Lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) has become an alternative method for computational fluid dynamics with a wide range of applications. Besides its numerical stability and accuracy, one of the major advantages of LBM is its relatively easy ...

The Single Component Thermal Lattice Boltzmann Simulation of Pool Boiling in Two Dimensions
In this paper, we propose a lattice Boltzmann model for simulation of two-phase flows pertinent to thermal nonideal fluids in two dimensions. This LBM has a modified pseudo-potential so that it recovers a full set of hydrodynamic equations for two-phase ...

Modeling epidemics by the lattice Boltzmann method [PDF]
In this paper, we demonstrate that the lattice Boltzmann method can be successfully adopted to investigate the dynamics of epidemics. Numerical simulations prove the excellent accuracy properties of the approach, which recovers the solution of the popular SIR model.

Bandgap‐engineered AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructures exhibit wavelength‐selective dual‐polarity photoelectrochemistry, switching from photocathodic to photoanodic response depending on excitation wavelength. The polarity transition is governed by band‐selective absorption, built‐in electric‐field‐driven carrier transport, and interfacial charge‐transfer ...

Polymorph‐Specific Electronic Transduction in WO3 during Molecular Sensing
Metal‐oxide polymorphs with similar surface chemistry can nevertheless exhibit distinct sensing properties. In γ‐ and ε‐WO3, analyte adsorption appears comparable; yet, only ε‐WO3 induces a pronounced lattice electronic perturbation that accommodates charge in sub‐conduction band minimum states.

Inverse Design of Amorphous Materials With Targeted Properties
AMDEN is a diffusion model framework for the inverse design of amorphous materials with targeted properties. By incorporating Hamiltonian Monte Carlo refinement into the denoising process, the framework overcomes the challenge of generating thermally relaxed disordered structures.
