Electric‐field‐induced magnetization reversal is a long‐sought‐after achievement in materials engineering for use in next‐generation, ultra‐low power consumption memory devices. This work demonstrates fully electric‐field‐driven switching of the out‐of‐plane component of magnetization in (110)‐oriented Co‐substituted BiFeO3 thin films at room ...

Chiral Gauge Theories on a Lattice
Physical Review Letters, 1988We show that chiral gauge theoreis can be put on a lattice by exploiting the idea of adding extra degrees of freedom. We also examine the lattice chiral Schwinger model to find that the gauge interaction imposes a restriction on the values of a parameter peculiar to the lattice fermion.

In quantum mechanics non classical trajectories are allowed with a probability: $$ P\{ x(t)\} = {e^{ - {{S\{ x(t)\} } \over h}}} $$ (1) where the time is euclidean (t ---> it) and $$ P\{ x(t)\} = \int\limits_{ - \infty }^\infty {L[x(t),\dot x(t)]} $$ (1) When h goes to zero, the probability peaks at the minimum of the action , the ...

Lattice Gauge Theory for Graphene
2012We propose a lattice gauge model for graphene, described in terms of tight binding electrons hopping on the honeycomb lattice interacting with a three-dimensional quantum U(1) gauge field. The infrared fixed point of the theory is analyzed by exact Renormalization Group methods.

In the last few years lattice gauge theory has become the primary tool for the study of nonperturbative phenomena in gauge theories. The lattice serves as an ultraviolet cutoff, rendering the theory well defined and amenable to numerical and analytical work.

Lattice thermodynamics for gauge theories
Physical Review D, 1985We study the Stefan-Boltzmann formula for a free-gluon gas system in the lattice-regularized thermodynamics, and find that there arises a clear ''Debye effect'' above the temperature T/sub D/ = 1/a/sub sigma/ (a/sub sigma/ being the lattice spacing) and the Stefan-Boltzmann formula deviates from the conventional one in the high-temperature region T>T ...

According to present day knowledge all fundamental interactions in nature are described by gauge theories. In the first part we summarized concepts and properties of continuum gauge theories which are needed in the remaining chapters of this book.

Gauge theories on a pseudorandom lattice
Physical Review D, 1987A new type of random lattice, with structure corresponding to a square lattice, is proposed. The gauge field theory is defined on it and some numerical results for the two-dimensional case are reported.

Recent mathematical results concerning lattice gauge theories are surveyed. The distinction between color screening and color confinement is explained in terms of the center of the color gauge group, for heavy quarks. The role of the center in terms of non-abelian vortices and confinement is also discussed.

Lattice gauge theory1 is now ten years old. Apart from the theoretical insight the lattice formulation gives, it is very well suited for computer simulations, as its inventor advocated already some five years ago at this school2. Since three years3 this approach has extracted useful information out of lattice gauge theory and spurred many interesting ...
