Tailoring Functional Properties of Ti–Ni–Cu Shape Memory Alloy Thin Films for MEMS Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A comprehensive study of critical parameters required to develop well‐performing Ti–Ni–Cu thin film shape memory alloy microactuators is provided. Materials science and device integration aspects are integrated by addressing structural and physical relationships using complementary characterization techniques as well as a practical fabrication solution

Paths and Tableaux Descriptions of Jacobi-Trudi Determinant Associated with Quantum Affine Algebra of Type $C_n$

open access: yesSymmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications, 2007
We study the Jacobi-Trudi-type determinant which is conjectured to be the $q$-character of a certain, in many cases irreducible, finite-dimensional representation of the quantum affine algebra of type $C_n$.

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

Lattice Paths Between Diagonal Boundaries [PDF]

open access: yesThe Electronic Journal of Combinatorics, 1998
A bivariate symmetric backwards recursion is of the form $d[m,n]=w_{0}(d[m-1,n]+d[m,n-1])+\omega_{1}(d[m-r_{1},n-s_{1}]+d[m-s_{1},n-r_{1}])+\dots+\omega_{k}(d[m-r_{k},n-s_{k}]+d[m-s_{k},n-r_{k}])$ where $\omega_{0},\dots\omega_{k}$ are weights, $r_{1},\dots r_{k}$ and $s_{1},\dots s_{k}$ are positive integers.

Toward Knowledge‐Based Workflows: A Semantic Approach to Atomistic Simulations for Mechanical and Thermodynamic Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Knowledge‐based atomistic workflows are presented for mechanical and thermodynamic properties. By coupling modular simulations with ontology‐aligned metadata and provenance, Fe case studies on elastic behavior, defects, thermal properties, and Hall–Petch strengthening reveal how FAIR, queryable, and reusable simulation data can be generated. Mechanical

Nonintersecting lattice paths on the cylinder

open access: yesSeminaire Lotharingien de Combinatoire, 2003
We show how a formula concerning ``vicious walkers'' (which basically are nonintersecting lattice paths) on the cylinder given by P.J. Forrester can be proved and generalized by using the Lindström--Gessel--Viennot method, after having things set up in the right way.

On the h-Vector of a Lattice Path Matroid [PDF]

open access: yesThe Electronic Journal of Combinatorics, 2010
Stanley has conjectured that the h-vector of a matroid complex is a pure M-vector. We prove a strengthening of this conjecture for lattice path matroids by constructing a corresponding family of discrete polymatroids.

Cathodic Cage Plasma Deposition of Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se Coatings on Poly(methyl Methacrylate)

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se coatings are deposited on PMMA by a modified cathodic cage plasma process, enabling low‐temperature deposition on polymer substrates. A transition from discontinuous to compact morphology is observed with temperature, with optimal properties at 200°C, where improved CuFeSe2‐type bonding, lowest sheet resistance, and favorable ...
