Abstract Rift zones, both on land and submarine, are key pathways for mantle‐derived CO2 degassing to the Earth's surface. Fixation of CO2 as carbonates plays a critical role in regulating these emissions. This study examines carbon abundance and isotope compositions in hydrothermal fluids, altered rocks, and carbonates from geothermal systems in both ...

Abstract Studies of exhumed subduction shear zones indicate that metamorphism and metasomatism of the oceanic lithosphere influence the composition, structure, and rheology of megathrust faults, particularly deep along the plate boundary (>30 km). However, less is known about the effects that fluid‐mediated chemical reactions have on the rheological ...

A natural nanosponge: new insights on the crystal-fluid interactions in laumontite
Laumontite, |(Ca4-xNax)Kx(H2O)n| [Al8Si16O48], space group C2/m, is one of the most common natural zeolites occurring in a wide range of geological environments, including oceanic basalts, in vugs of plutonic and volcanic rocks and in sedimentary rocks ...

A syn‐ to post‐peak amphibolite facies gold mineralization event has been identified in the Vumba Greenstone Belt (VGB) of northeastern Botswana. The garnet U–Pb dating yields three overlapping ages of sulfide‐bearing garnets: garnet 1 (2655 ± 58 Ma), garnet 2 (2680 ± 113 Ma) and garnet 3 (2679 ± 41 Ma).

Zeolites in the Granitic Rocks of Chugoku District, Southwest Japan [PDF]
Ca-zeolites such as laumontite, stilbite and chabazite were found in the granitic rocks of both magnetite and ilmenite series of late Cretaceous to Tertiary age developed widely in the Chugoku district. These zeolites occur (1) in veins of various scale,
