Assessing lava flow susceptibility at neighbouring volcanoes: Nyamulagira and Nyiragongo volcanoes, Virunga Volcanic Province

open access: yesJournal of Applied Volcanology
Assessing volcanic hazards in locations exposed to multiple central volcanoes requires to consider multiple potential eruption sources and their respective characteristics. While this is common practice in ashfall hazard assessment, this is generally not

Importance of Geodetically Controlled Topography to Constrain Rates of Volcanism and Internal Magma Plumbing Systems [PDF]

open access: yes
Investigation of lava flow deposits is a key component of Investigation II.A.1 in the VEXAG Goals, Objectives and Investigations. Because much of the Venus surface is covered in lava flows, characterization of lava flow emplacement conditions(eruption ...

Exploring Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) to Detect Soil Pipes: Theoretical Modeling and Field Experiments

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, Volume 37, Issue 3, Page 1126-1142, 15 February 2026.
ABSTRACT Soil erosion research remains critical for sustainable development as it impacts soil health through different erosive processes. Recent studies on soil piping highlight advancements in detecting surface features (using UAV); however, detecting underground pipes still remains challenging.

Medical students' initial experiences of the dissection room and interaction with body donors: A qualitative study of professional identity formation, educational benefits, and the experience of Pasifika students

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, Volume 19, Issue 2, Page 280-300, February 2026.
Abstract The first experience of medical students in the dissecting room (DR) likely influences professional identity formation (PIF). Sparse data exist exploring how exposure to the DR and body donors without undertaking dissection influences PIF, or how culture may influence this experience.

Paleomagnetism‐Based Chronology of Holocene Lava Flows at Mt Ruapehu, Aotearoa New Zealand

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems
Dating young lava flows is essential for understanding volcano's eruption frequency, yet challenging due to methodological limitations of commonly used dating techniques.

Deciphering depositional controls and evolution of a lacustrine supradetachment basin through facies analysis: Gördes Basin, Western Türkiye

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 12, Issue 1, February 2026.
The lacustrine Gördes Supradetachment Basin was developed along the Simav detachment fault during postorogenic extension in the north of the Menderes Massif in western Anatolia. The basin‐fill succession is represented by alluvial fan, Gilbert‐type delta, shoal‐water delta, foreshore, shoreface, offshore‐transition and peat‐forming mire deposits.

Environmental Factors and Co‐Occurrence Patterns Influence Dorsal Brightness in Two Jumping Mice Species in the Western United States

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
We examined how dorsal coloration varies in the endangered New Mexico jumping mouse (Zapus luteus) and its close relative, the western jumping mouse (Z. princeps) in relation to environmental variables and co‐occurence patterns using standardized photographs of museum specimens.
