Etna Output Rate during the Last Decade (2011–2022): Insights for Hazard Assessment
During the last two decades, the Etna volcano has undergone several sequences of lava fountaining (LF) events that have had a major impact on road conditions, infrastructure and the local population.

Eruption column height estimation of the 2011-2013 Etna lava fountains
In this paper, we use calibrated images collected by the video-surveillance system of the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia, Osservatorio Etneo, to retrieve the height of the eruption column during the recent Etna explosive activity. The analysis is carried out on nineteen lava fountains from the New South East Crater dataset.

From Hurricane Irma to the Grindavík eruptions: volatility premiums in disaster governance
Abstract Environmental volatility can inflate property values even as it destroys them. To show how, this article pairs a postcolonial micro‐state in the Caribbean (Sint Maarten after Hurricane Irma) with a Nordic welfare town (Grindavík in Iceland following volcanic eruptions) because they occupy the opposite ends of the governance capacity spectrum ...

Early Jurassic volcanism was in the southern north Victoria Land portion of the Ferrar Large Igneous Province preceded by multiple phases of shallow‐level intrusions of Ferrar sills into the 300 m thick cover of sedimentary rocks of the Triassic‐Jurassic Victoria Group.

Rainfall‐induced landslides involving on Auckland Volcanic Field scoria cones are highly unusual, compared with widespread landsliding in the surrounding Auckland clay‐rich residual soils. Indeed, while Auckland can suffer from thousands of rainfall‐induced shallow landslides from severe storms at subdecadal timescales, these are usually limited to ...

Magnetic Reversals During the Deccan Volcanism: Paleomagnetic Insights From the Pachmarhi Dykes
Abstract The three main dyke swarms that are linked to the Deccan Continental Flood Basalts are the Nasik‐Pune, Western Coastal, and Narmada‐Satpura‐Tapi (N‐S‐T) swarms. Encompassing approximately 244 mapped basaltic dykes, mainly trending E‐W and positioned along an ancient tectonic zone, the Pachmarhi dyke swarm is situated in the eastern N‐S‐T ...

Eruptive Styles Recognition Using High Temporal Resolution Geostationary Infrared Satellite Data
The high temporal resolution of the Spinning Enhanced Visible and InfraRed Imager (SEVIRI) instrument aboard Meteosat Second Generation (MSG) provides the opportunity to investigate eruptive processes and discriminate different styles of volcanic ...

Abstract The 2021 eruption of Cumbre Vieja on La Palma, Canary Islands, provided a unique opportunity to investigate the dynamics of magma migration and storage during a large effusive eruption. In this study, we employ repeated seismic tomography to image temporal changes in the subsurface structure beneath La Palma, using body‐wave travel times from ...

Abstract The Martian lava plains are characterized by their extensive, low‐relief surfaces, which are the result of numerous basaltic eruptions and feature a variety of volcanic landforms, including vents, cones, pits, and skylights. The combination of these features and impact craters yields a significant understanding of the planet's geological past ...

Abstract The detection capability of the global infrasound International Monitoring System (IMS) deployed to monitor compliance with the Comprehensive Nuclear‐Test‐Ban Treaty is highly variable in space and time. Previous studies estimated the source energy of near‐surface explosions from remote observations using empirical yield‐scaling relations ...
