Effects of Intermittent Cooling on Growth of Lavandula Stoechas.
1998The effect of intermittent low temperatures (3 °C, 7 °C or 10 °C) for different time periods (1, 2 or 3 h) on growth of Lavandula stoechas was tested. Short time exposure to 10 °C accelerated shoot elongation by 22.51 % (3.4 cm) on average, whereas exposure to 3 or 7 °C accelerated shoot elongation by 4.6 % or 9.9 % (0.7 or 1.5 cm), respectively.

Fractionation of ethyl acetate extract of Lavandula stoechas aerial parts revealed the presence of a novel acetylated glucoside (1) together with apigenin 7-O-glucoside (2) and luteolin 7-O-glucoside (3). The structures of these compounds were elucidated by spectroscopic analyses, notably UV, MS, and NMR.
