Exploring the importance of aromatic plants' extrafloral volatiles for pollinator attraction

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 248, Issue 2, Page 517-528, October 2025.
Summary Aromatic plants occur in many plant lineages and have widespread ethnobiological significance. Yet, the ecological significance and evolutionary origins of aromatic volatile emissions remain uncertain. Aromatic emissions have been implicated in defensive interactions but may also have other important functions.

Cropping Beyond the Visible; Innovative, UV‐Emitting LED Applications for the Horticultural Industry

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Agriculture and Environment, Volume 4, Issue 3, September 2025.
ABSTRACT The estimated increase in the world population to 9.7 billion by 2050 and the increased frequency of extreme weather events caused by climate change will put further pressure on world food supply. This emphasises the need to optimise all agricultural techniques.

Melissopalynological Characterization of North Algerian Honeys

open access: yesFoods, 2013
A pollen analysis of Algerian honey was conducted on a total of 10 honey samples. The samples were prepared using the methodology described by Louveaux et al., that was then further adapted by Ohe et al. The samples were subsequently observed using light

Phytochemical Characterization and Potential Anti‐Oxidative Activity of Lavandula angustifolia subsp. pyrenaica (DC.), Lavandula x intermedia Emeric ex Loisel cv Grosso, and cv Super Essential Oils Compared to a Commercial Lavender Essential Oil

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 22, Issue 7, July 2025.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the phytochemical profiles and antioxidant properties of three lavender essential oils (LEOs) from Lavandula angustifolia subsp. pyrenaica (DC.), Lavandula x intermedia Emeric ex Loisel cv Grosso, and Lavandula x intermedia Emeric ex Loisel cv Super, and compares them to a commercial one.

Triterpenoids of the roots of Lavandula stoechas ssp. stoechas.

open access: yesDie Pharmazie, 2001
The roots of Lavandula stoechas ssp. stoechas afforded eleven known triterpenes, two steroids and two aromatics, in addition to two new triterpenes, 18-hydroxy-27-norolean-12,14-dien-30-al-28-oic acid and 3 beta-hydroxy-1-oxo-olean-12-ene-30-al-28-oic acid. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic analyses.

Effects of habitat characteristics in an anthropized landscape on the spatial behavior and abundance of a common chameleon (Chamaeleo chamaeleon) population

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2025.
The most favorable areas for the common chameleon were significantly related to greater distances from the highway. The relative abundance of common chameleons was significantly higher in the areas furthest from the highway. Both results constitute the first evidence regarding the common chameleon and the impact of highways that is not exclusively ...

Bee‐Mediated Pollen Transport Across Five Urban Landscape Features: Buildings Are Important Barriers

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 4, April 2025.
Urban landscape features may disrupt or facilitate the foraging movements of insect pollinators; for example, bees are more likely to move along roads than across them. Here, we investigated not only roads but also lawns, gardens, forests, and buildings by measuring the transfer of fluorescent dye between flowering plants separated by each feature ...

Ameliorative potential of Lavandula stoechas in metabolic syndrome via multitarget interactions

open access: yesJournal of Ethnopharmacology, 2018
Decoction and infusion prepared from aerial parts of Lavandula stoechas L. (L. stoechas) have been traditionally used as remedy against several components of metabolic syndrome (MetS) and associated disorders including type II diabetes and cardiovascular diseases by Anatolian people. The aim is to elucidate the potential ameliorative effects of L ...
