Meta‐Analysis: Effects of Steatotic Liver Disease‐Associated Genetic Risk Alleles on Longitudinal Outcomes [PDF]

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 62, Issue 3, Page 244-276, August 2025.
Genetic variants associated with risk of steatotic liver disease (SLD) may also influence clinical events. A systematic review and meta‐analysis consisting of 288,423 patients across 40 studies found that variants in PNPLA3, TM6SF2 and MBOAT7 are significantly associated with hepatic outcomes, with modest effects on extrahepatic outcomes.

Impact of PNPLA3 I148M on Clinical Outcomes in Patients With MASLD [PDF]

open access: yesLiver International, Volume 45, Issue 3, March 2025.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is a heterogenous clinical and histopathological entity, where multiple metabolic co‐factors are intertwined with high interindividual variability. The impact and severity of each factor (including obesity and type 2 diabetes) define a systemic dysmetabolism ...

Environmental DNA surveys detect distinct metazoan communities across abyssal plains and seamounts in the western Clarion Clipperton Zone [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 29, Issue 23, Page 4588-4604, December 2020., 2020
Abstract The deep seafloor serves as a reservoir of biodiversity in the global ocean, with >80% of invertebrates at abyssal depths still undescribed. These diverse and remote deep‐sea communities are critically under‐sampled and increasingly threatened by anthropogenic impacts, including future polymetallic nodule mining.

Investigating the environmental drivers of deep‐seafloor biodiversity: A case study of peracarid crustacean assemblages in the Northwest Atlantic Ocean [PDF]

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 9, Issue 24, Page 14167-14204, December 2019., 2019
We utilize a very large dataset of Northwest Atlantic Ocean peracarid crustacean assemblages as a case study to investigate the environmental drivers of deep‐seafloor macrofaunal biodiversity. We investigate biodiversity from a phylogenetic, functional, and taxonomic perspective, and find food availability, physical disturbance (bottom trawling ...
