Multimodal Mechanical Testing of Additively Manufactured Ti6Al4V Lattice Structures: Compression, Bending, and Fatigue

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this experimental study, the mechanical properties of additively manufactured Ti‐6Al‐4V lattice structures of different geometries are characterized using compression, four point bending and fatigue testing. While TPMS designs show superior fatigue resistance, SplitP and Honeycomb lattice structures combine high stiffness and strength. The resulting

Law, understanding of law, application of law [PDF]

open access: yesActa Juridica Hungarica, 2010
After the classical heritage of both Civil Law and Common Law is characterised, their juristische Weltanschauung as professional deontology is reconstructed in parallel with their respective assumptions in theory formation. As to the nature of legal process, the moment of concealment is identified in both types with the final conclusion reached that ...

Sustainable Synthesis of Bio‐Based Magnetic and Conductive Wood for Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A wood‐based magnetic and conductive material called Magwood (MW), capable of blocking almost 99.99% of electromagnetic waves (in the X‐band frequency range), is synthesized using a simple, solvent‐free process. MW is lightweight, resists water, and is flame‐retardant, making it a promising alternative for shielding electronics. The rapid proliferation

Law applicable to the substance of the dispute before an ICSID arbitral tribunal: Article 42(1) of the ICSID Convention and the role of national law [PDF]

open access: yesZbornik Radova: Pravni Fakultet u Novom Sadu, 2017
Business transaction which represents a foreign investment is today most commonly regulated by three different layers of legal rules: provisions of an investment contract, rules of international law (treaties and rules of customary international law) and

Numerical solution of a non-linear conservation law applicable to the interior dynamics of partially molten planets

open access: yes, 2017
The energy balance of a partially molten rocky planet can be expressed as a non-linear diffusion equation using mixing length theory to quantify heat transport by both convection and mixing of the melt and solid phases.

Thermoelectric Modules Incorporating MgAgSb and Mg3(Sb,Bi)2 Synthesized Using a Melting Method

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A scalable synthesis method for a thermoelectric material of MgAgSb is established. A thermoelectric power module of MgAgSb/Mg3(Sb,Bi)2 is fabricated, showing the conversion efficiency of 7.4% at ΔT = 315 K. The performance is comparable to conventional Bi2Te3 modules when they are operated with an air‐cooled heat exchanger.

Exception clause in private international law [PDF]

open access: yesStrani pravni život, 2019
If the civil relations with the foreign element have a weak connection with a state whose law has been determined as applicable by the choice of law rule, but significantly closer connection to the law of another country, then the exception clause will ...

3D‐Printed Serial Snap‐Through Architectures for Programmable Mechanical Response

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A serial snap‐through architecture is realized using compact 3D‐printed von Mises truss units arranged in a staged cascade. Their geometry and boundary conditions program multistage mechanical responses with plateaux and re‐hardening regimes. An inverted‐compliance model predicts these behaviors and enables analytical design of programmable force ...

Wainwright reconsidered: Prisons, Families and the Human Rights Act [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A brief, speculative look at how the provisions of the Human Rights Act 1998 regarding the rights of prisoners' partners and children may have impacted (had it been applicable) on the decision of Wainwright v Home Office [2003] UKHL 53 which related to ...
