The generality of Fitts's Law.

Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1972
accuracy, and duration of hand movements, the duration depends on the logarithm of the ratio of amplitude and accuracy. Data presented by A. T. Welford suggest that the logarithmic transform gives additivity of amplitude and accuracy effects. This paper presents data from a variant of Fitts's dotting task, in which amplitude and duration of movements ...

General Laws of Optical Transitions [PDF]

open access: possible, 1983
Selection rules and symmetry considerations play a basic role in modern physics. This holds for the atomic shells, the nucleus, elementary particles and for many other areas. We shall present only a small but typical sample here, taking up the perturbation theory discussed in Sect. 15.2. We began with the unperturbed wavefunctions o n .

General Principles of Law

2013
General principles of law are basic rules whose content is very general and abstract, sometimes reducible to a maxim or a simple concept. Unlike other types of rules such as enacted law or agreements, general principles of law have not been “posited” according to the formal sources of law.

The Generality of the Law

2016
Social expectations, technical progress, European legislation and other international cooperation mechanisms are making difficult demands today in terms of legal coordination. The reaction to this difficulty is frequently a large quantity of special legislation which tends to do more to weaken legal certainty and confidence in the law than to ...

Generalized Fourier law

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1994
Abstract A generalized Fourier law is shown to follow logically from the principle of frame-indifference and the second law of thermodynamics. It can be used in the process of heat transfer in which a relative macroscopic motion is present between two sides exchanging heat. The classical Fourier law is recovered as a special case of it.

6. General principles of law

2020
This chapter examines the development of the general principles by the Court of Justice (CJ) to support the protection of human rights in the European Union (EU) law within the scope of EU law. It analyses the relationship of the general principles derived from the CJ’s jurisprudence to the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and the European ...

Economic Generalizations or Laws

1982
It is the business of economics, as of almost every other science, to collect facts, to arrange and interpret them, and to draw inferences from them. “Observation and description, definition and classification are the preparatory activities. But what we desire to reach thereby is a knowledge of the interdependence of economic phenomena... Induction and
