Quantum Phase Transitions in Graphene Coupled to a Twisted WSe2 Moiré Ferroelectricity

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Moiré ferroelectricity in twisted WSe2 (t‐WSe2) breaks graphene's sublattice symmetry, inducing a room‐temperature metal‐insulator transition. Coupling graphene with ferroelectric domains of t‐WSe2 creates local Dirac points and metallic phases with Fermi‐liquid and non‐Fermi‐liquid behavior.

A Kinetic Monte Carlo Model to Understand Limiting Regimes of Photocurrent and Interfacial Charge Transfer in Organic Semiconductor–Electrolyte Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
The interface between a conjugated polymer and phosphate buffer saline is modeled by employing multiphysics kinetic Monte Carlo simulation. Results demonstrate that the Marcus Gerischer theory is inadequate, and particle‐based simulation with molecular Marcus theory is required for accurate modeling.

Control of Copper Morphology on TaN through Surface Point Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
In this study, DFT and dynamics simulations are used to explore the tailoring of the morphology of Cu metal deposits by surface nitrogen vacancy defects on the TaN diffusion barrier. Vacancy formation can be promoted by hydrogen reduction. High vacancy concentrations limit unwanted 3D growth, suggesting defect engineering as a strategy for targeted ...
