Surface‐Mounted Metal‐Organic Framework for the Adsorption and Sensing of Monoaromatic Pollutants in Water Using Quartz Crystal Microbalance

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A hydrophobic metal‐organic framework (UHMOF‐100) is grown on a quartz crystal microbalance sensor for the first time. The device enables real‐time, selective detection of monoaromatic BTEX pollutants in water, demonstrating a new strategy for creating robust chemical sensors for challenging environmental monitoring applications. Abstract Environmental

Particle Size Matters – Impact of Particle Size and Crucible Geometry on Sublimation Behavior of Formamidinium Iodide

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
FAI precursor particle size and sublimation crucible geometry critically determine vapor flux directionality and deposition uniformity in thermal sublimation processes. Conical crucibles exhibit particle‐size‐dependent beam focusing, while cylindrical crucibles show a much more homogeneous deposition due to de‐focusing effects of the emitted vapor flux.

The Role of Optical Centers in Neodymium‐Doped Calcium Fluoride: Optical Tagging and Nanothermometry in the Second Biological Window

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Tuning excitation by only 6 nm unveils three distinct optical centres in CaF2:Nd3⁺,Y3⁺, each with unique spectral fingerprints. Some exhibit properties ideal for precise nanoscale temperature sensing. Abstract Nd3+ has been proposed for nanothermometry in biological media, as both its emission and excitation wavelengths fall within the regions of low ...

Competitive Bidirectional Response in Bi‐Polymeric Mechanochromic Cantilevers Toward Color Imaging‐Based VOC Discrimination

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
In bi‐polymeric mechanochromic cantilevers composed of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and off‐stoichiometry thiol‐ene‐epoxy (OSTE+), differential swelling between the two polymers in response to VOC exposure induces a competitive bidirectional bending and corresponding color changes, with three characteristic response modes related to the Hansen ...
