Local Laws of the Iterated Logarithm for Diffusions

open access: yesThe Annals of Probability, 1985
This paper considers a general one-dimensional diffusion which is reflecting at zero. Under mild regularity on the speed measure M near zero (it must have a strictly positive abolutely continuous part near zero) laws of the iterated logarithm are obtained at zero.

Confirmation of a Non‐Transiting Planet in the Habitable Zone of the Nearby M Dwarf L 98‐59

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Only 40 exoplanetary systems with five or more planets are currently known. These systems are crucial for our understanding of planet formation and planet‐planet interaction. The M dwarf L 98‐59 has previously been found to show evidence of five planets, three of which are transiting.

Evidence to support integrating feedback best practice for computer‐based assessment in pharmacology education

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Feedback is the most powerful driver of learning, but it can afford variable effects depending on the method used. The design of feedback for computer‐based assessment—now increasingly prevalent in higher education—remains relatively underexplored, particularly for pharmacology education.

Gamma Kernel Estimators for Density and Hazard Rate of Right-Censored Data

open access: yesJournal of Probability and Statistics, 2011
The nonparametric estimation for the density and hazard rate functions for right-censored data using the kernel smoothing techniques is considered. The “classical” fixed symmetric kernel type estimator of these functions performs well in the interior ...

Law of the iterated logarithm for nonstationary negatively associated random fields(非平稳NA随机变量域的重对数律)

open access: yesZhejiang Daxue xuebao. Lixue ban, 2003

Integrability conditions on coboundary and transfer function for limit theorems

open access: yes, 2015
For a measure preserving automorphism $T$ of a probability space, we provide conditions on the tail function of $g\colon\Omega\to\mathbb R$ and $g-g\circ T$ which guarantee limit theorems among the weak invariance principle, Marcinkievicz-Zygmund strong ...

Prioritizing Feasible and Impactful Actions to Enable Secure AI Development and Use in Biology

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As artificial intelligence continues to enhance biological innovation, the potential for misuse must be addressed to fully unlock the potential societal benefits. While significant work has been done to evaluate general‐purpose AI and specialized biological design tools (BDTs) for biothreat creation risks, actionable steps to mitigate the risk

The Law of the Iterated Logarithm for Lp-Norms of Kernel Estimators of Cumulative Distribution Functions

open access: yesMathematics
In this paper, we consider the strong convergence of Lp-norms (p≥1) of a kernel estimator of a cumulative distribution function (CDF). Under some mild conditions, the law of the iterated logarithm (LIL) for the Lp-norms of empirical processes is extended
