Splitting of the neutral mechanical plane depends on the length of the multi-layer structure of flexible electronics

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2016
Multi-layer structures with soft (compliant) interlayers have been widely used in flexible electronics and photonics as an effective design for reducing interactions among the hard (stiff) layers and thus avoiding the premature failure of an entire ...

Interaction between layers by electron-electron scattering

Solid-State Electronics, 1988
Abstract The “molecular dynamics” method combined with Ensemble Monte Carlo, which has previously been used to investigate the effects of electron-electron Coulomb forces in a homogenous state, is applied to a simulation of the effect of mutual Coulomb scattering of the electrons in two parallel semiconductor layers separated by a thin dielectric ...

The inter-layer local-field corrections of weakly coupled electron-electron and electron-hole layers

Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 1998
We propose a simple analytical expression for the inter-layer local-field correction (LFC) for weakly coupled two-layer systems and develop a sum-rule version of the self-consistent approach of Singwi, Tosi, Land, and Sjolander. On the basis of the approximate approach, the inter-layer LFC is investigated for electron-electron and electron-hole layers ...

Static and dynamic properties of coupled electron-electron and electron-hole layers

Physical Review B, 1996
We have investigated coupled layers of electron and hole liquids in semiconductor heterostructures in zero magnetic field for densities ${\mathit{r}}_{\mathit{s}}$\ensuremath{\lesssim}20 using the Singwi-Tosi-Land-Sj\"olander self-consistent formalism generalized for layers of unequal density.

Ballistic Electron Microscopy of Nanographene Layers

Nano Letters, 2008
We use scanning tunneling microscopy and ballistic electron emission spectroscopy and microscopy to study charge transport across Pt-nanographene-Pd interfaces. Four triangle-shaped nanographene molecules with different bulky substituents are studied.

Electronic traps in organic transport layers

physica status solidi (a), 2004
The knowledge about properties of electronic traps in organic semiconductors is one of the major keys for the understanding and optimization of charge transport in organic devices. In the present article the density of occupied states of the most prominent pristine small molecule systems and selected polymers are reported determined, by fractional ...

Correlations in coupled layers of electrons and holes

Physical Review B, 1994
We investigate interparticle correlations for two layers of charge-carrier liquid trapped in adjacent wells of a gallium arsenide heterostructures. We determine in the absence of appreciable tunneling the static polarizability, the pair correlation functions, and the local-field corrections both within a layer and between the layers.

Electron Microscopic Study of a Slime Layer

Journal of Bacteriology, 1969
Slime layers are being studied in our laboratories in an attempt to understand their functions in the control of pollution in natural streams. A method for fixing, staining, and embedding microorganisms in the intact slime has been developed. In this method, epoxy resin discs are placed in a holder and are introduced into a simulated stream.
