Structure-controlled optical thermoresponse in Ruddlesden-Popper layered perovskites

open access: yesAPL Materials, 2018
Ruddlesden-Popper perovskites are highly attractive for light-emitting and photonic applications. In these exceptionally deformable frameworks, structural properties strongly impact on the energetic landscape of the material; thus, it is crucial to ...

Improper antiferroelectricity in NaNbO3-based perovskites driven by antiferrodistortive modulation

open access: yesNature Communications
Perovskite materials exhibit a wide array of fascinating properties arising from various structural instabilities and the interplay between them. Probing such instabilities demands the use of high-resolution, high-sensitivity characterization techniques ...

The quantum-confined Stark effect in layered hybrid perovskites mediated by orientational polarizability of confined dipoles

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
The quantum-confined Stark effect is conventionally observed in inorganic semiconductor multilayer quantum well structures that are expensive to make. Here Walters et al.

Leaftronics: Bio‐Fractal Scaffolds From Leaf Venation for Low‐Waste Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
“Leaftronics” transforms naturally evolved leaf venation into quasi‐fractal scaffolds for sustainable electronics. Polymer‐infiltrated leaf skeletons can be used to fabricate ultra‐smooth, reflow‐ and thin‐film‐compatible decomposable substrates, while making the same lignocellulose networks conducting results in flexible transparent electrodes.

Path‐Decoupled Cation‐Eutaxy III–V van der Waals Memristive Semiconductors for Mitigating the Neuromorphic Accuracy‐Energy Trade‐off

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Path‐decoupled III–V van der Waals memtransistors spatially separate ionic and electronic transport to overcome the conventional trade‐off between accuracy and energy in neuromorphic hardware. Mobile K+ ions in the vdW gaps set a wide conductance window, Gmax/Gmin, while gate‐tunable hole conduction lowers programming energy, enabling reliable ...
