Beyond Ecology: How Environmental and Social Landscapes Shape Tropical Forest Restoration in Southeast Brazil

Restoration was more associated with environmental variables than socioeconomics. Active restoration was utilized in degraded areas and pasture abandonment favored natural regeneration. Successful tropical restoration is dependent on a complex interdependent mix of factors.

RB1 inactivation in cutaneous carcinomas

Among skin carcinomas, recurrent RB1 inactivation is observed in Merkel cell carcinoma, in a subset of squamous cell carcinoma with bowenoid morphology, in sebaceous carcinoma and in the recently described Wnt/beta‐catenin rosette‐forming carcinoma.

Population Structure and Genetic Diversity Analyses Reveal Isolation That May Imperil the Northernmost Colony of the Endangered Australian Sea Lion

Rapid warming of marine environments is threatening ecosystems, especially species at the edge of their range. This study analysed the genetic structure and diversity of Australian sea lion populations and found the northernmost population to be highly isolated with extremely low genetic variation.
