A Rectangular Mixed Finite Element Method with a Continuous Flux for an Elliptic Equation Modelling Darcy Flow

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2013
We introduce a mixed finite element method for an elliptic equation modelling Darcy flow in porous media. We use a staggered mesh where the two components of the velocity and the pressure are defined on three different sets of grid nodes.

Oscillation in power spectrum of primordial gravitational wave as a signature of higher-order stringy corrections

open access: yes, 2016
In low-energy effective string theory, $\alpha'$ corrections involve the coupling of the dilaton field to Gauss-Bonnet term. We assume that the dilaton potential is fine tuned so that the dilaton field may oscillate rapidly for a while around the minimum

Stabilized mixed explicit finite element formulation for compressible and nearly-incompressible solids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
El presente estudio presenta una formulación mixta de elementos finitos capaz de abordar problemas quasiincompresibles en forma explícita. Esta formulación se aplica a elementos con interpolaciones independientes e iguales de desplazamientos y ...

The use of a “horizontal centrifugation protocol” to prepare autologous platelet‐rich fibrin membranes for corneal reconstruction surgery in dogs with complicated corneal ulcerations: A case series

open access: yesVeterinary Ophthalmology, Volume 28, Issue 2, Page 175-189, March 2025.
Abstract Objective The purpose of this case series was to describe the effect of autologous PRF membrane for corneal reconstruction surgery in dogs. PRF membranes made from two healthy dogs unrelated to the current case series were used for PRF histologic analyses. Animals Seven dogs with complicated corneal ulcerations. Procedure A complete ophthalmic

Location-Based Beamforming and Physical Layer Security in Rician Wiretap Channels

open access: yes, 2016
We propose a new location-based beamforming (LBB) scheme for wiretap channels, where a multi-antenna source communicates with a single-antenna legitimate receiver in the presence of a multi-antenna eavesdropper.

Investigation of Solution Accuracy in PFEM Simulations Using Benchmark Problems

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The simulation of large topological changes, such as those occurring in Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) and vibratory pile driving, remains a major challenge in computational geomechanics. Excessive mesh distortions render classical approaches like the Finite Element Method (FEM) unsuitable, emphasizing the need for alternative methodologies ...

Assessing the stock status of Megalaspis cordyla in the northern Arabian Sea: a multi-model approach for sustainable fishery management

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
Effective fisheries management is crucial for the sustainable use of fishery resources, increasing relying on stock assessments. The Megalaspis cordyla an economically important fish species in Pakistan, require an accurate assessment of its current ...

Asymptotic convergence in finite and boundary element methods: part 2: The LBB constant for rigid and elastic scattering problems

open access: yesComputers & Mathematics with Applications, 1994
AbstractThe paper is a continuation of [1] and contains the evaluation of the (exact) LBB constant, in terms of the wave number, for typical problems (all with spherical geometry) in elastic scattering. Solutions to the problem of scattering of a plane wave on an elastic spherical shell, for different wave numbers, illustrate the dramatic effect of the

EVSS‐Based Simulation Techniques for the Viscoelastic Fluids With Pure Polymer Melts Using Three‐Field Approach

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, Volume 98, Issue 4, Page 492-509, April 2026.
This paper presents a finite element method for simulating highly viscoelastic flows of pure polymer melts using the Elastic Viscous Stress Splitting formulation. The method avoids higher‐order derivatives in the weak formulation by reformulating the convective term in the constitutive equation.

An H1-Galerkin Expanded Mixed Finite Element Approximation of Second-Order Nonlinear Hyperbolic Equations

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2013
We investigate an H1-Galerkin expanded mixed finite element approximation of nonlinear second-order hyperbolic equations, which model a wide variety of phenomena that involve wave motion or convective transport process.
