A simple LBE wave runup model

Progress in Computational Fluid Dynamics, An International Journal, 2008
The suitability of a Lattice Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook (LBGK) modelling approach is tested to examine the behaviour of free surface waves in shallow water. The free surface model is fully non-linear. Mathematically, this is taken into account through the collision integral.

Modeling of oxidation of structural materials in LBE systems

Journal of Nuclear Materials, 2008
Abstract In recent years, liquid metal alloys have been examined in the light of various applications in technical systems the most famous example is the sodium cooled Fast Breeder Reactor. One major problem in non-isothermal heavy liquid metal systems lies in the corrosion of their structural components.

The Hermite–Gauss Route to LBE

2018
Abstract This chapter describes the side-up approach to Lattice Boltzmann, namely the formal derivation from the continuum Boltzmann-(BGK) equation via Hermite projection and subsequent evaluation of the kinetic moments via Gauss–Hermite quadrature.

Review of the studies on fundamental issues in LBE corrosion

Journal of Nuclear Materials, 2008
Lead bismuth eutectic (LBE) technology is being developed for applications in advanced nuclear systems and high-power spallation neutron targets. In this paper, the current understanding of corrosion and the fundamental issues relevant to corrosion when using LBE as a heavy liquid metal nuclear coolant are reviewed.

Measurement of LBE flow velocity profile by UDVP

Journal of Nuclear Materials, 2006
Abstract Measurements of liquid metal lead–bismuth eutectic (LBE), flow velocity profile were realized in the spallation neutron source target model by the ultrasonic Doppler velocity profiler (UVDP) technique. So far, it has not been done well, because both of poor wetting property of LBE with stainless steels and poor performance of supersonic ...

Lbe Schemes For Complex Fluids

2001
Abstract This is all we need to generate faithful dynamics of ‘simple’37 isothermal, quasi-uniform, incompressible fluids. Many applications in modern science and technology need to address significantly more complicated problems, such as fast flows with substantial heat transfer, compressibility, chemical reactions, phase transitions ...

Finale: Who Needs Lbe?

2001
Abstract After so much ado about lattice Boltzmann it is worth taking a final step back and asking a very simple question: who needs LBE? The views can be quite disparate. Some authors, including one of the originators, seem to regard it as just ‘yet another finite difference scheme’.56 In a much more enthusiastic vein, some others claim

Simulations of Metal Oxidation in LBE at a Mesoscopic Level

Volume 1: Plant Operations, Maintenance, Installations and Life Cycle; Component Reliability and Materials Issues; Advanced Applications of Nuclear Technology; Codes, Standards, Licensing and Regulatory Issues, 2008
The oxidation process of metals in lead bismuth eutectic (LBE) environment is studied at a mesoscopic scale. An improved stochastic cellular automaton model based on an improved Moore neighborhood is proposed to investigate the development of a continuous oxide layer of metals in LBE.
