Operation analysis of thyristor based front-to-front active-forced-commutated bridge DC transformer in LCC and VSC hybrid HVDC networks [PDF]
The active-forced-commutated (AFC) bridge employs a symmetrical thyristor-bridge with auxiliary self-commutated full-bridge chain-link (FB-CL) circuit to assist its soft transition and forced commutation.

Design of cooling structure improvement of hybrid commutated converter valve
Abstract This paper presents a thermal management framework for 120 kV hybrid commutated converter (HCC) valves, addressing critical cooling challenges in multi‐hundred‐MW power conversion systems. Power loss calculations under rated (1.0 p.u.) and overload (1.2 p.u.) conditions demonstrate that HCC valves achieve comparable loss levels to line ...

Distributed Secondary Frequency Control through MTDC Transmission Systems
In this paper, we present distributed controllers for sharing primary and secondary frequency control reserves for asynchronous AC transmission systems, which are connected through a multi-terminal HVDC grid.

Thyristor based modular multilevel converter with active full-bridge chain-link for forced commutation [PDF]
Voltage source converter (VSC) such as modular multilevel converter (MMC) has been intensively studied for high voltage direct current (HVDC) applications due to its flexible terminal voltage adjustment, compatibility with weak ac grid and independent ...

This paper introduces the waveform similarity index (WSI), which is an effective index to characterise the input current performance of harmonic injection matrix converter (HIMC). A closed‐loop control strategy is proposed to regulate the WSI difference through multi resonant controllers (RCs), which can fully suppress the effect of inaccurate harmonic

A Hierarchical Control Strategy With Fault Ride-Through Capability for Variable Frequency Transformer [PDF]
A variable frequency transformer (VFT) is being considered as a new alternative to the classical back-to-back high voltage direct current (HVDC) link for interconnection of two asynchronous networks. The VFT is a retrospective form of frequency converter

The change in conductivity with paper‐ageing could be linked with the change in total amount of charges as well as the electric field distortion. Moreover, the electric field distortion was consistent in ester liquid‐impregnated papers with paper‐ageing while it increased noticeably in mineral oil‐impregnated papers at stage II of ageing.

Enhanced constant extinction angle control for subsequent commutation failure in LCC‐HVDC
The key control factor affecting subsequent commutation failure suppression in line‐commutated converter‐based high‐voltage direct current were identified. Some conclusions from previous literature were corrected, and an adaptive integral parameter adjustment strategy to enhanced control ability and suppress subsequent commutation failure was ...
