There is inconsistent evidence that stream restoration projects lead to recovery of ecosystem attributes, especially stream biota. While some assessments have documented desired changes in fish community metrics in the first years following restoration, longer‐term studies have not always corroborated these findings.

Abstract A growing body of evidence shows that some ungulates alternate between migratory and nonmigratory behaviors over time. Yet it remains unclear whether such short‐term behavioral changes can help explain reported declines in ungulate migration worldwide, as opposed to long‐term demographic changes.

Abstract Wildfires and housing development have increased since the 1990s, presenting unique challenges for wildfire management. However, it is unclear how the relative influences of housing growth and changing wildfire occurrence have altered risk to homes, or the potential for wildfire to threaten homes. We used a random forests model to predict burn

Assessment of public and private land cover change in the United States from 1985–2018
An assessment of annual land cover on publicly and privately managed lands across the conterminous United States (CONUS) from 1985–2018 was performed, including land cover conversions within their management category, to inform future policy and land-use

Substantially Greater Carbon Emissions Estimated Based on Annual Land-Use Transition Data
Quantifying land-use and land-cover change (LULCC) effects on carbon sources and sinks has been very challenging because of the availability and quality of LULCC data.

Investigation of the Effect of Microstructure and Grain Boundaries in Nanostructured CMR Thin Films Using Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) and Local Conductance Map (LCMAP) [PDF]
We have investigated the spatially resolved local electronic properties of a nanostructured film of a colossal magnetoresistive (CMR) material by local conductance mapping (LCMAP) using a variable temperature scanning tunneling microscope (STM) operating in a magnetic field.

Abstract Growing demands for temporally specific information on land surface change are fueling a new generation of maps and statistics that can contribute to understanding geographic and temporal patterns of change across large regions, provide input into a wide range of environmental modeling studies, clarify the drivers of change, and provide more
