Design of an LCST–UCST-Like Thermoresponsive Zwitterionic Copolymer
Langmuir, 2021Thermoresponsive polymers that possess both UCST- and LCST-like behaviors have generally been designed using diblock copolymers that are mostly composed of an LCST-like polymer and a UCST polymer. Herein, we prepared an LCST-UCST-type polymer composed of UCST-like thermoresponsive zwitterionic sulfabetaine methacrylate and nonthermoresponsive PEG ...

Effects of stereochemistry and copolymerization on the LCST of PNIPAm
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2017Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAm) is a smart polymer that presents a lower critical transition temperature (LCST) of 305 K. Interestingly, this transition point falls within the range of the human body temperature, making PNIPAm a highly suitable candidate for bio-medical applications.

Thermo‐Responsive Polyoxazolines with Widely Tuneable LCST
Macromolecular Bioscience, 2009AbstractThe “click” modification of statistical poly[2‐(isopropyl/3‐butenyl)‐2‐oxazoline] copolymers with ω‐functionalized thiols can be used to generate a toolbox of thermo‐responsive polymers. The cloud points of the polymers can be finely tuned over a wide range as a function of composition and hydrophilicity of the side chain (hydrocarbon, alcohol,

Self‐assembled Fluorescent Nanoparticles with Tunable LCST Behavior in Water
Chemistry – An Asian Journal, 2022AbstractThe development of stimuli‐responsive fluorescent materials in water based on organic molecule has drawn significant interest. Herein, we designed and synthesized an amphiphilic molecule M containing a fixed tetraphenylethylene moiety (FTPE) as hydrophobic part and tri(ethylene glycol) (TEG) chains as hydrophilic part.

Triple Hydrophilic UCST–LCST Block Copolymers
Macromolecules, 2016Thermosensitive ABC triblock copolymers with different block lengths and block orders were prepared by reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. Using a nonionic macro-RAFT agent containing poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO, average degree of polymerization 17), either N-acryloylglycinamide (NAGA) or N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM ...

A Novel Functional Polymer with Tunable LCST
Macromolecules, 2008Poly(N-[(2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolane)methyl]acrylamide) (PDMDOMA), a novel thermo-responsive polymer containing pendant dioxolane groups was synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). Water soluble PDMDOMAs with controlled molecular weight and narrow molecular weight distribution were obtained.

LCST and UCST behavior in polymer solutions and blends
Polymer, 2012Abstract We introduce a model for polymer solutions and blends that display both an upper and a lower critical solution temperature (UCST, LCST). Using our simple analytic lattice theory along with a fixed parameter set independent of both composition and temperature, we study solutions and blends exhibiting complicated miscibility patterns ...

Molecular Description of the LCST Behavior of an Elastin-Like Polypeptide
Biomacromolecules, 2014Elastin-like polypeptides (ELPs) with the repeat sequence of VPGVG are widely used as a model system for investigation of lower critical solution temperature (LCST) transition behavior. In this paper, the effect of temperature on the structure, dynamics and association of (VPGVG)18 in aqueous solution is investigated using atomistic molecular dynamics ...
