Expanding the Molecular Switches Toolbox: Photoreloadable Dithienylethene Mechanophores

Functionalizing dithienylethene with polycaprolactone creates a robust mechanophore that once activated by UV light, lose its red color under sonication. The thermally‐forbidden ring opening reaction is better mediated when force is applied at the 5,5′‐ positions of the scaffold.
