Comparability of calculated LDL-C with directly measured LDL-C in selected paediatric and adult cohorts

Clinica Chimica Acta, 2022
The gold standard for measuring LDL-C is impractical for routine use while direct measurements have numerous shortcomings. This study investigated the correlation of predictive equations with currently used enzymatic assays in populations where these have historically proven unreliable to determine whether equations may be used interchangeably.

‘LDL-C’ = LDL-C + Lp(a)-C

Current Opinion in Lipidology, 2015
The measurement that is termed 'LDL-cholesterol' (LDL-C) includes the cholesterol content of lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)-C], which can contribute approximately 30-45% to measured LDL-C levels as a percentage of its mass. We review the implications of achieved very low LDL-C levels in patients treated with potent LDL-C-lowering agents in the context of ...

LDL-C-Senkung bei Dialysepatienten

Nephrologie aktuell, 2023

Dietary Approaches to Lowering LDL-C

2021
Multiple epidemiological, experimental, genetic, and interventional trials have unequivocally established that low-density lipoprotein (LDL) is a causal risk factor for the initiation and progression of atherosclerosis. LDL-cholesterol (LDL-C) is a key goal for primary and secondary prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) according

Is very low LDL-C harmful?

Current Pharmaceutical Design, 2019
Background: Low-density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (LDL-C) is a major Cardiovascular (CV) risk factor. Accumulating evidence supports a linear association between LDL-C levels and CV risk. However, the lower limit of LDL-C that might offer CV benefits without any safety concerns is still a topic of debate.

Optimizing LDL-C Lowering With Statins

American Journal of Therapeutics, 2004
Clinical studies have demonstrated the efficacy of statins in reducing low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and lowering coronary heart disease risk. However, many patients receiving statin therapy in clinical practice are not achieving their LDL-C goals.
