Allochthonous chemical cues drive predation by a top carnivore
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Identifying the mechanisms by which mobile predators detect and select prey remains a central challenge in sensory biology and functional ecology. This study provides the first direct evidence that chemical cues associated with allochthonous organic matter (e.g.

Behavioral Responses of Two Common Woodland Salamanders to Novel Urban Stimuli
We examined behavioral responses of the Eastern Red‐backed Salamander (Plethodon cinereus) and Northern Ravine Salamander (P. electromorphus) to novel urban stimuli. The Northern Ravine Salamander exhibited increased thigmotaxis in the presence of concrete pavers simulating roads and walkways.

Camelina sativa, a low‐input oilseed for biofuel production, was evaluated under different sulfur fertilization strategies using recycled gypsum as a S‐source. Adding a moderate sulfur supply (40 kg ha−1) to regular nitrogen fertilization increased crop productivity and reduced environmental impacts, including emissions associated with iLUC, supporting

The Plural Lives of E‐Waste: Valuation and Contestation in Accra's Recycling Network(s)
Short Abstract Electronic waste (e‐waste) in Accra is shown to be plural and ontologically multiple, enacted as livelihood, commodity, hazard, governance object and political actor across dispersed recycling networks. Using a multi‐sited, follow‐the‐thing approach and 60 interviews, I specify four socio‐material mechanisms (i.e., copper's market tempo,

Phlogopite Mica Under Acidic and Alkaline Conditions: Reactivity and Silicate Gel Formation
ABSTRACT Alkali‐activated materials (AAMs) produced using industrial residues offer a sustainable alternative to Portland cement, the production of which contributes nearly 8% of global CO2 emissions. However, commercial sodium silicate, commonly used as an activator, remains costly and energy‐intensive to produce, motivating the development of ...
