Practical waste and flow parameter values were determined to predict accurate leachate breakthrough times and flow rates for landfill leachate. The experimental design, measurement and analytical procedures of a 22 factorial experiment with a total of eight cells are developed to validate channeled flow and characterize flow patterns, measure key waste

Membrane Technology, 2005
This feature looks at the use of membrane bioreactor technology for landfill leachate treatment. It also attempts to explain why landfill operators in the UK have not used the technology for leachate treatment.

Polyfluoroalkyl compounds in landfill leachates
Environmental Pollution, 2010Polyfluoroalkyl compounds (PFCs) are widely used in industry and consumer products. These products could end up finally in landfills where their leachates are a potential source for PFCs into the aqueous environment. In this study, samples of untreated and treated leachate from 22 landfill sites in Germany were analysed for 43 PFCs.

The available experience with the performance of leachate collection systems (LCS) in hazardous waste landfills (HWLFs) is reviewed. Design and operating factors affecting LCS performance, potential problem areas, applicable preventive, and corrective measures and relative R&D needs are identified. Due to the relative newness of properly designed HWLFs,
