Review of Reclamation of salinity affected soils by leaching and their effect on soil properties and plant growth

open access: yesTikrit Journal for Agricultural Sciences, 2022
The irrigated soils in dry and semi-arid areas suffer from the problem of salt accumulation because of not using sufficient leaching water to remove the salts added with the irrigation water.

A Novel Selective Oxygen Pressure Leaching for Zinc Extraction from Hemimorphite in Acid-Free Solutions

open access: yesMetals
A novel acid-free oxygen pressure leaching for the extraction of zinc from hemimorphite was proposed in this study. Green vitriol (FeSO4·7H2O), as one of the important industrial by-products, was used as the leaching reagent to separate zinc from silicon

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Effect of Calcium Sulfate and Silica Gel on Vanadium Leaching Characteristics from Vanadium Titanomagnetite via Calcification Roasting–Sulfuric Acid Leaching: Formation Mechanism and Process Enhancement

open access: yesMetals
Compared with vanadium extraction by sodium roasting followed by water leaching, the calcification roasting–sulfuric acid leaching method is considered a promising approach for the comprehensive utilization of vanadium titanomagnetite, as it avoids the ...

Polarizable Vanadium Dipoles Promote Water Dissociation on Vanadium‐Based Metal Organic Framework

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The polarization of unpaired V 3d electrons weakens the H─O bond to improve water dissociation by the dual Vδ+:O─H and Pλ−:H─O coupling hydrogen bonds formation and relaxation. P@V‐MOF electrocatalyst shows low overpotentials (94 mV in acid, 178 mV in neutral, and 77 mV in alkaline solutions) with excellent stability for effective overall water ...

Human Gut Bacteria and Lipidic Nanoparticles: Particle Composition Predicts Structural Transformation and Bacterial Biocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lipidic nanoparticles (LNPs) were incubated with 21 gut bacteria frequently associated with the human microbiome. SAXS revealed that ∼75% of tested species induced structural transformations in monoolein LNPs, whereas phytantriol and phospholipid formulations remained unaffected.
