Predicted Potential for Aquatic Exposure Effects of Per- and Polyfluorinated Alkyl Substances (PFAS) in Pennsylvania’s Statewide Network of Streams

open access: yesToxics
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are contaminants that can lead to adverse health effects in aquatic organisms, including reproductive toxicity and developmental abnormalities. To assess the ecological health risk of PFAS in Pennsylvania stream

Vertical movements along the northwestern side of Messina straits, in the 1967-1970 period

open access: yesAnnals of Geophysics, 1982
The results of a comparison of the spirit levelling data made by I.G.M. in 1967
and in 1970, are presented. An analysis of these data shows that the altitude
variations of bench marks in the considered triennial period seem to ...

Current Landscape: Use of Supercritical CO2 in the Wood Industry

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
The application of supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) to successfully dewater as well as extract resin from wood is becoming increasingly popular due to its greener and less energy‐intensive approach. With world focus shifting to developing methods with greater efficiency while decreasing harm to the environment, scCO2 applications have begun to set ...

Copper Contact for Perovskite Solar Cells: Properties, Interfaces, and Scalable Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
Copper electrodes, as low‐cost, scalable contacts for perovskite solar cells, offer several advantages over precious metals such as Au and Ag, including performance, cost, deposition methods, and interfacial engineering. Copper (Cu) electrodes are increasingly considered practical, sustainable alternatives to noble‐metal contacts in perovskite solar ...

The anatomy of exhumed river-channel belts: Bedform to belt‐scale river kinematics of the Ruby Ranch Member, Cretaceous Cedar Mountain Formation, Utah, USA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Many published interpretations of ancient fluvial systems have relied on observations of extensive outcrops of thick successions. This paper, in contrast, demonstrates that a regional understanding of palaeoriver kinematics, depositional setting and ...

3D investigation and modeling of the geometric effects on porosity in packed beds

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract In porous beds, physical boundaries restrict particle arrangement, leading to inhomogeneous porosity. This paper reports on the porosity profiles that are the result of geometric effects on monodisperse packed beds in cylindrical and cubic arrangements. Special focus is given to the influence of edges and corners in cubic geometries.
