Bioinspired Microreactor for Iodide Adsorption and Photooxidation Recovery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A bioinspired micro‐ionic‐reactor based on porous organic polymer (MIR‐POP) integrates rapid iodide capture with in situ photooxidative conversion, achieving record uptake capacity and high uptake efficiencies in simulated mining wastewater and natural brine. This bioinspired microreactor strategy offers a new avenue for sustainable iodine recovery and

Sir Henry Thomas De la Beche and the founding of the British Geological Survey [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The founding of the Geological Survey by Henry De la Beche in 1835 is a key event in the history of British geology. Yet the Survey’s initiation actually began three years earlier when De la Beche secured financial assistance from the Board of Ordnance ...

DC‐magnetometry Analytical Tool Driven by Spin Ordering Phenomena for Sensing Chemical Interactions at the Surface of Nanomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The adsorption of AsV on akaganeite nanorods was found to provide a magnetic signature. A change in the surface spin order gave rise to a second peak in the zero‐field cooled curve. AsIII adsorption does not provide any change in the magnetic behavior of the sorbent.

Satellite-derived foresummer drought sensitivity of plant productivity in Rocky Mountain headwater catchments: spatial heterogeneity and geological-geomorphological control

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2020
Long-term plot-scale studies have found water limitation to be a key factor driving ecosystem productivity in the Rocky Mountains. Specifically, the intensity of early summer (the ‘foresummer’ period from May to June) drought conditions appears to impose

Recycling Argon through Metamorphic Reactions: the Record in Symplectites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The 40Ar/39Ar ages of metamorphic micas that crystallized at high temperatures are commonly interpreted as cooling ages, with grains considered to have lost 40Ar via thermally-driven diffusion into the grain boundary network.

Highly Efficient Extraction of 212 Pb/212Bi from the Decay Chain of 232Th‐Based on Anion Exchange in Bromide Medium

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work provides an effective strategy for selectively extracting 212Pb and 212Bi from the decay chain of 232Th as well as its mechanism illustration. Using the novel strategy, 2.07 MBq of 212Pb is successfully separated from 232Th and its daughters, which enables the supply of 212Pb/212Bi directly from the abundant natural thorium resource to be ...

Diagenetic and post-diagenetic fabrics in the Kamarposht fluorite mine (east of Mazandaran province): Explainaton and genetic interpretation

open access: yesJournal of Economic Geology, 2017
Introduction Upper part of Elika Formation (middle Triassic) in the central Alborz as one of the most important fluorite districts in Iran is the host of some carbonate rock-hosted fluorite deposits such as Kamarposht, Pachi-Miana, Shashroodbar, Era ...

The living heart: Climate gradients predict desert mountain endemism

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2021
Mountain regions are centers of biodiversity endemism at a global scale but the role of arid‐zone mountain ranges in shaping biodiversity patterns is poorly understood.
