Micromachined Double‐Membrane Mechanically Tunable Metamaterial for Thermal Infrared Filtering
Herein, a mechanically tunable double‐layer plasmonic metamaterial leveraging the extraordinary optical transmission effect observed in subwavelength arrays of openings within thin metal layers is presented. The concept is experimentally validated by integrating the proposed metamaterial structure into an electrostatic parallel‐plate actuator to create

A four stage evolution of the White Channel gravel: Implications for stratigraphy and palaeoclimates [PDF]
Although the White Channel gravel (WCG) of the Klondike district, Yukon, contains gold placers which have been exploited for over a century, few sedimentological studies have been undertaken.

Scale-dependence of lithological control on topography: Bedrock channel geometry and catchment morphometry in western Scotland [PDF]
We propose that a scale-dependent topographic signature of erodibility arises due to fluvial and glacial erosion acting on different parts of the landscape at different times.

The living heart: Climate gradients predict desert mountain endemism
Mountain regions are centers of biodiversity endemism at a global scale but the role of arid‐zone mountain ranges in shaping biodiversity patterns is poorly understood.

Active restoration increases soil organic carbon stocks by reducing microbial nitrogen limitation. Nitrogen availability promotes particulate to mineral‐associated organic carbon conversion by reducing microbial carbon use efficiency. Passive restoration has no effect on soil organic carbon stocks.

Multifunctional Tailoring of Fertilizer Composites Directly Derived From Phosphate Rock
A novel phosphorus‑sulfur mixed acid with urea (PSU) activation system converts low‑grade phosphate rock (LPR) into multifunctional fertilizer composites (MFCs). MFCs feature porous structures, high nutrient‑activation efficiency, superior slow‑release, and enhanced crop growth, offering a sustainable solution for integrated nutrient management and ...

Geology of Rookery Creek zinc-lead showings, Cornwallis Island, Nunavut
Four zinc-lead showings are known from the Middle Ordovician Bay Fiord and Thumb Mountain formations at Rookery Creek on western Cornwallis Island. Mapping of the Rookery Creek area was updated at 1:50 000 scale. The geology is complex, with four fault sets superimposed on a broad anticlinorium.

Implications of convection in the Moon and the terrestrial planets [PDF]
The early thermal and chemical evolution of the Moon is discussed. The rubidium-strontium, neodymium-samarium, and uranium-thorium-lead systems were studied.
