Synthesis and assessment of piroxicam derivatives as potential chelating agents and antioxidants for lead poisoning treatment

Results in Chemistry
Lead is a highly harmful environmental and occupational contaminant that works by inducing oxidative stress. Chelation therapy is the only treatment available in clinics for heavy metal poisoning, but it also has several adverse effects.

Exposure to PTFE (teflon), a commonly used microplastic in non‐stick cookware, significantly reduces sperm quality in both humans and mice. Specifically, PTFE induces the disruption of sperm cytoskeleton and F‐actin assembly through targeting SKAP2 in haploid spermatid.

The Critical Role of Enhanced OXPHOS and Mitochondrial Hyperpolarization in Simulated Microgravity‐Induced Oocyte Maturation Arrest

Simulated microgravity induces distinct mitochondrial hyperactivation patterns‐elevated OXPHOS and MMP‐which accelerate meiosis without SAC failure but delays MTOC coalescence, leading to spindle defects and meiotic arrest. Prolonging M‐phase restores MTOC assembly and oocyte maturation.
