A hepatoprotective experiment on taro vegetable (Colocasia esculenta (L.) Schott) flower employing animal models by mitigating oxidative stress

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
The antioxidant efficacy of Colocasia esculenta flower’s methanolic extract was assessed using 2,2′‐azino‐bis‐(3‐ethylbenzothiazoline‐6‐sulfonic) (ABTS) and 2,2‐diphenyl‐1‐picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging assay. The hepatoprotective effect was investigated by assessing liver injury indicators (amino transferase [ALT], aspartate amino transferase [AST],

Establishment and evaluation of a novel rat model of the fourth ventricle hemorrhage

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
In this study, a novel rat model of fourth ventricle hemorrhage was established via autologous blood injection through the foramen of Magendie. Anesthetized rats were positioned in a stereotaxic apparatus with their heads tilted downward at an angle of approximately 20° relative to the vertical axis.

Metal‐Responsive Up‐Regulation of Bifunctional Disulfides for Suppressing Protein Misfolding and Promoting Oxidative Folding

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A stress‐responsive folding promotor was developed by conjugating metal‐binding ligands and a redox‐active disulfide. The oxidative strength of the bifunctional disulfide was enhanced by metal coordination, inhibiting protein misfolding and up‐regulating the oxidative folding capacity under metal stress.

Dizygotic Atomic Platinum and Palladium on Carbon for High‐Performance Ethanol and Methanol Electro‐Oxidation

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Single‐atom catalysts (SACs) have been explored to maximize Pt utilization, but they struggle to efficiently activate the C─H and O─H bonds in alcohols. Multi‐metallic dizygotic‐atom‐site catalysts (DASCs), which incorporate multiple metal atoms in dispersed active sites, offer a promising alternative by enhancing catalytic activity through metal ...

Linking Metallacycle Transfer with Ring‐Opening Metathesis to Generate Polyacetylenes of Unprecedented Structure

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A series of unusual low HOMO‐LUMO gap polyacetylenes bearing ring‐fused tellurophene and vinyl side chains were prepared by combining metallacycle transfer (Hf/p‐block element exchange) with ring‐opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) into a single modular and efficient protocol.

Children and Lead Poisoning

The American Journal of Nursing, 1975
Lead poisoning in the United States, Chisolm adds, occurs almost exclusively among preschoolage children who live in poorly maintained housing(l). Most of this housing was built before World War II, when leadbased paints were customarily used. During 1971 and early 1972 smallscale, neighborhood, lead-screening surveys were initiated in 27 cities by the

Lead Poisoning

Annual Review of Medicine, 2004
Understanding of lead toxicity has advanced substantially over the past three decades, and focus has shifted from high-dose effects in clinically symptomatic individuals to the consequences of exposure at lower doses that cause no symptoms, particularly in children and fetuses. The availability of more sensitive analytic methods has made it possible to
